We’re excited to share the successful completion of a Construct Innovate–funded research project delivered by the School of Civil Engineering at University College Dublin in partnership with HTL.tech. The study — “3D Concrete Printing Height Optimisation to Accelerate the Housing for All Initiative” — explored how accelerator content influences the performance of 3D-printable fibre-reinforced concrete.

The research centred on a clear productivity objective:
• Increasing layer height from 50 mm to 75 mm — a 50% uplift
• Achieving this without any reduction in print speed or print quality

Following extensive testing, the results were conclusive:
• A 50% increase in layer height reduced total print time by up to 33%
• Continuous extrusion and stable, repeatable layer geometry were fully maintained

This work directly supports HTL.tech’s and Construct Innovate’s shared mission to accelerate digital construction adoption and drive productivity across Ireland’s strategy.

Thank you to our partners at Construct Innovate and the University College Dublin School of Civil Engineering for their leadership, collaboration, and commitment to advancing the science behind 3D construction printing.

Research like this does not remain in the lab — HTL.tech implements these findings on our live projects, ensuring that every advancement translates into faster, safer, more efficient delivery on site.

We were delighted to join forces with Lowry Construction Ltd and our partners, Roadstone Retail, to host a live demonstration and industry showcase on 3D Construction Printing at Lowry Construction’s Donegal offices.

Thank you to all who attended and contributed to the discussions around the role of 3DCP in delivering compliant, efficient, and scalable construction solutions.

From a live printing demo to in-depth Q&A sessions, it was a great opportunity to deepen understanding of how this technology is evolving and scaling—and how we’re working together to make it a practical reality on-site for projects in Donegal and beyond.

The 3DCP process isn’t just innovative—it’s compliant and dependable. By using structural-grade concrete, tested to European Standard EN206, we ensure that every printed wall delivers the strength, resilience, and longevity.

- Fast, robust housing solutions
- Stronger than traditional masonry
- 100+ years design life
- Sustainable construction - low waste, low carbon

Robust, scalable concrete housing that is built to last.
