Carrig is pleased to share the first webinar of the Built & Archaeological Heritage Climate Change Sectoral Adaptation Plan 2025, taking place on Friday, 25 September 2026, from 11:00–13:00.

Speakers will address topics including climate hazard data sets in Ireland; addressing the problems of scale in CRA from national to local; CRA tools for site-based assessments, undertaking a CRA for the Rock of Cashel and the assessment of climate change impacts on museums and art galleries. Invited speakers from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Ireland, Department of Culture, National Monuments Service, Office of Public Works and Historic England will present followed by Q&A and discussion.

Heritage Week 2026 | Heritage at Risk

Carrig colleagues were delighted to contribute to Heritage Week 2026, sharing expertise across events in Wicklow, Monaghan and Kerry.

Peter Cox presented Heritage at Risk at Killruddery House, highlighting the risks facing our built heritage, including climate change, under-funding, legislation and inappropriate energy retrofitting.

Gissella Renolfi presented on the Rossmore Memorial Fountain and Rossmore Mausoleum, exploring their history, architectural significance and conservation.

In Kerry, Cathy Daly, Ruth Graterol and Petra Krajacic presented Heritage at Risk: Kilshannig Church and Graveyard , Adapting to a Changing Climate, drawing on Carrig’s Conservation Management Plan and the SEA-CCHange research programme.

From historic houses and Victorian monuments to medieval churches and graveyards, these events brought together conservation knowledge, research and local engagement around the shared challenge of protecting Ireland’s heritage.

Thank you to the organisers, local communities and everyone who participated in these Heritage Week events.

Peter Cox is honoured and delighted to have been invited by Killruddery to deliver the keynote talk for Heritage Week on Sunday 23rd August at 12 noon.

🎙️ Inside Ceannt Station: conserving 175 years of heritage while constructing Ireland’s gateway to the western region

This episode of iProperty Radio goes on site at Galway’s Ceannt Station, recorded inside the newly opened train hall as services run around us. Host Carol Tallon is joined by Liam Boyce of Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail/ IE Architects, Darren Devane, Director of Building at BAM UK & Ireland, and Peter Cox, who has been conservation consultant on the project since 2021.

Originally built in the early 1850s to a design by railway architect John Skipton Mulvany, with cast iron by Richard Turner of Botanic Gardens fame, the station lost roughly half its original train hall in the 1950s to make way for bus maintenance. The current redevelopment reinstates that train hall and takes the station from two platforms to five, building capacity for Galway, the Western Rail Corridor and the wider region west of the Shannon.

Peter and Farooqh were honoured to be invited to give a talk on Energy Efficiency in Traditional Buildings to 4th year Architectural students at the BMS SCHOOL OF ARCHITECTURE, YELAHANKA in Bengaluru, India on Monday.
