Autumn Grass-Weed Control in Winter Oilseed Rape...🌱

With challenging establishment conditions this autumn, compounded by ongoing cabbage stem flea beetle (CSFB) pressure, some winter oilseed r**e crops have struggled to establish, with crop losses and re-drilling reported in certain areas.

In surviving and later-drilled winter OSR, volunteer cereals and grass w**ds can be a significant problem for young crops.

Left unchecked, they compete aggressively for essential nutrients, moisture and light, potentially restricting crop establishment ahead of winter.

Early identification and control will help maintain crop competitiveness while reducing future w**d burdens. 🔎

Extended Autumn Application Window for Clayton Gatso EC™ & Clayton Propose™ 📅

Following a mild autumn so far and delayed crop establishment in some areas for OSR crops, the application window for our graminicides, Clayton Gatso EC™ and Clayton Propose™, both containing 120 g/L clethodim, has been extended to 31st October 2026 or the six-true-leaf stage of the crop, whichever comes first.

This extension supports growers managing later-drilled and backward winter oilseed r**e crops, providing additional flexibility for autumn grass-w**d control.

With autumn drilling now underway, effective w**d control remains important on fields not yet drilled. Where conditions and drilling schedules allow, stale seedbeds provide an opportunity to control emerged w**ds before the following crop is established. 🎯 🌱

Bency joined the team this spring, bringing over two years of experience in the chemical compliance sector and a strong background in regulatory compliance and document management.

As a Compliance Specialist at Clayton, Bency supports a range of compliance activities across the business, including managing product specifications, Safety Data Sheets (SDSs), labels, and document control processes. She works closely with teams across the business to help maintain documentation systems and support ongoing compliance initiatives

Since joining the plant protection industry, Bency has continued to build her knowledge and experience of regulatory and compliance processes within the sector.

Meet the Team: Leszek Dryjański, Sales Executive Eastern Europe 🌟

Leszek’s experience in agriculture began at an early age, with his family involved in the pesticide industry. By helping with the family business, he gained hands-on experience creating marketing materials and supporting field trials and events. He then went on to study at the University of Life Sciences in Poznań, further developing his knowledge of agriculture and crop production.

Leszek began his professional career as a product manager within the oilseed r**e breeding sector before moving into agricultural consultancy. There, he progressed from Agricultural Consultant to leading regional operations and business development.

After more than a decade in consultancy, Leszek went on to lead a digital farming project, combining his agricultural experience with an interest in technology and precision farming. He later returned to agricultural consultancy, where he was responsible for developing and expanding a consultancy network across Poland.

Since joining Clayton Plant Protection in July, Leszek has taken on a sales role covering Eastern Europe, focusing on strengthening Clayton’s sales network, developing new markets and supporting our continued growth across the region.

Outside of work, Leszek enjoys spending time with his family, travelling, sports and exploring new technologies. His wide-ranging interests include photography, drones, construction, sustainability and AI, alongside a longstanding passion for outdoor activities and adventure.
