These newly approved crops are outdoor linseed, celeriac, edible podded pea, broad bean (fresh), bulb onion, dwarf french bean, garlic, runner bean, shallot and vining pea.

This extension gives more flexibility across a wider range of specialist crops, complementing existing uses in oilseed r**e and sugar beet.

Protecting yield potential at T2. 🌾

Weather conditions across the country have been mixed, but generally favourable overall. Following a relatively dry early spring period in many areas, levels of septoria and rust remain low to moderate in most crops.

However, recent rainfall has increased disease risk in some areas, with pressure likely to respond quickly at this stage of the season. ☔

Septoria spores on lower leaves can be easily transferred higher up the canopy during rainfall events, making careful crop monitoring essential where further rain is forecast this week and beyond.

Great to be out in the field this week, visiting independent OSR trials near Shotley, Suffolk. Jessie and Joanne spent time assessing two key trials...

🛡️ A crop safety trial, helping us evaluate how various treatments are impacting overall crop health and development.

🌱 A herbicide efficacy trial, where we looked at how well different herbicides are performing in managing w**ds and supporting crop growth.

It was encouraging to see the untreated plots standing out clearly, a strong indication that the herbicides were doing a great job.
