This week marks Mental Health Awareness Week 2026 - a reminder that creating healthier workplaces starts with more than awareness. It starts with action.

This year’s theme *Action*, encourages all of us to take meaningful steps to support our own mental health and the wellbeing of those around us. Often, it’s the small actions that have the greatest impact - checking in with a colleague, listening without judgement, making time to disconnect, or simply asking someone how they’re doing.

At IIS Space, we understand that the environments people work in have a direct impact on wellbeing, focus and connection. We believe the best workplaces are built around people. Creating environments that support collaboration, balance and wellbeing, alongside a culture of openness and support, is an important part of how we work with both our teams and clients.

As work continues to evolve, so too should the conversations around mental health. This week is an opportunity to reflect on the role we can all play in creating healthier, more supportive workplaces and communities.

Last week, we had the pleasure of celebrating the retirement of one of the true gentlemen of our industry, Mark Baker, surrounded by friends, colleagues and the wider IIS Space team at The Devonshire in London.

After five years with IIS Space as Project Manager, and an incredible career spanning decades in the construction and fit-out industry, Mark now begins a very well-earned new chapter.

Mark brought calmness, experience, professionalism and humour to every project and every team he worked with. Highly respected by clients, subcontractors and colleagues alike, he has been a huge part of many successful projects and an even bigger part of the culture within IIS Space.

More importantly, Mark is simply a genuinely good person, the kind of person people enjoy working with and having around. He will be greatly missed across the business.

From everyone at IIS Space, thank you Mark for everything you have contributed over the years. We wish you health, happiness and many great adventures ahead in retirement.

Enjoy every minute, you’ve earned it. 👏

Wow! - What exactly are we looking at here? - Hidden behind decades of walls and services at our IIS Space Kabannas Euston Road project… this appeared.

A large historic mural. Horse-drawn carriages. Steam trains. London landmarks. Possibly untouched for generations or more. Now the big question is: What exactly are we looking at here?

Could this be an original transport-era artwork linked to old Euston Station or historic London travel? Or something commissioned later to celebrate the area’s railway history? A conservation officer is on the way, but before they arrive, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Anyone recognise the style, period, artist… or the scene itself?

National Award Winners (again!). IIS Space are proud to share that our Kabannas, Euston Road project has been awarded a National Site Award (Bronze) at the Considerate Constructors Scheme Awards 2026.

This is a significant achievement, particularly against strong national competition. It highlights how the ongoing project is delivered day-to-day by a team committed to doing things the right way.

From respecting the local community and minimising environmental impact, to creating a safe, supportive and high-performing site culture, this award recognises the standards our people bring to every project.

Achieving full marks across all CCS categories during a complex structural phase in a busy city-centre environment is no small feat. It’s a testament to the care, discipline and collaboration shown by everyone involved.

A huge thank you to our site team, Wayne Buckingham , Adam Chatwell, Sara Lambert, Fionn Hegarty and Darren Corrigan, whose commitment and professionalism made this achievement possible.

A sincere thank you to our site partners who helped made this possible:
Patrick McCaul , Salisburyfire Ltd, Tom McNamara and Partners, and Red Twin Limited, along with the wider IIS Space team who continue to deliver with precision and professionalism.

Driven by our clients’ vision, delivered through the strength of our people, this is what quality looks like in practice.

Cost control in construction is not about spending less.
It is about getting decisions right early.

Most clients ask the same question:
How do we keep this within budget without it becoming a compromise?

It is a fair concern.

Projects rarely go off track because of one big decision.
It is usually a series of smaller ones made too late.

At IIS Space, cost control starts long before anything happens on site.

Where it really makes the difference:

Materials
Costs do not just come from price. Availability, lead times, and installation all play a role. The right choice is not always cheaper. It is smarter.

Planning
By the time a project reaches site, most costs are already locked in. Clear scope, realistic budgets, and programmes built around real constraints are critical.

Value engineering
Done properly, this is not about cutting back. It is about focusing on what actually matters, removing unnecessary complexity, and improving outcomes.

Delivery
Even strong plans can drift without tight management. Delays, rework, and poor coordination are where costs increase quickly.

Communication
One of the most overlooked cost drivers. When decisions are not clear or information is not shared early, projects slow down and costs follow.

In reality, cost control is not about cutting corners.
It is about understanding detail, managing risk, and making informed decisions early.

The projects that stay within budget are not the cheapest.
They are the ones that are properly thought through.

From strip-out to structure, progress is taking shape at Kabannas, St Pancras, London. The build by IIS Space is now evolving into a carefully coordinated internal fit-out, with each stage building momentum across the programme.

This walkthrough captures the journey so far:
• Full internal strip-out and site set-up in a constrained city-centre location.
• Formation of new layouts through partitioning and spatial reconfiguration.
• First fix MEP installation, with visible coordination across pipework, drainage, and services.
• Early finishes progressing, including screeds and wall linings.
• Integration of core facilities, with precision in both planning and ex*****on.

Every element is being delivered with a clear focus on sequencing, buildability, and long-term performance - ensuring the space works as effectively behind the scenes as it will for end users.
As members of the Considerate Constructors Scheme, we’re committed to delivering this city-centre project with care, respect, and minimal disruption to the local community. In fact, the Kabannas project by IIS Space has been nominated for a Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Award, achieving an Excellent performance rating. Scoring the maximum 15/15 across all categories.

We’re proud to be partnering with Kabannas on this next chapter and look forward to bringing their vision to life.

Thank you to our partners, Patrick McCaul, Salisburyfire Ltd, Tom McNamara and Partners, and Red Twin Limited. A strong example of collaborative delivery in action, with more to come as the project continues to take shape.

IIS Space are proud to share that our Euston Road project for Kabannas has been nominated for a Considerate Constructors Scheme National Site Award, achieving an Excellent performance rating.
Scoring the maximum 15/15 across all categories: Respect the Community | Care for the Environment | Value the Workforce, this recognition reflects how the project is being delivered, not just what is being built.

This achievement comes during a complex structural phase, following the full internal strip-out of the seven-storey building and the careful progression into major structural reinforcement works. With façade removal completed and structural steel installations supporting future HVAC upgrades, precision, safety and coordination are critical, particularly within a busy city-centre environment.

Being recognised by the Considerate Constructors Scheme reinforces our commitment to:
- Working respectfully within the local community.
- Minimising environmental impact throughout delivery.
- Creating a safe, supportive and well-managed site for everyone involved.

A huge thank you to our site teams and delivery partners for maintaining such high standards day in, day out.

IIS Space have successfully completed the full refurbishment of the operations centre for Go Ahead London at Camberwell, transforming a live transport hub into a future-ready environment that supports the hard-working teams who keep London moving.
The completed programme delivered new office environments, upgraded canteen areas, modernised bathrooms, and fully integrated operational facilities. Works also included essential roof access and refurbishment alongside comprehensive mechanical and electrical upgrades. Enhancing staff welfare was central to the brief, with new toilets and shower facilities designed to improve comfort, performance, and day-to-day experience.
Delivered within a fully operational environment, the project required careful phasing and close collaboration with the Go Ahead London team to ensure continuity of service throughout. Through technical precision and considered programme management, the site remained fully functional while being elevated to a higher operational standard.
The result is a resilient, sustainable operations centre built for long-term performance and for the people at the heart of it.
A huge thank you to the Go Ahead London team and everyone involved in delivering this important project.
