A beautiful facade is just the finishing touch. What lies beneath it dictates the longevity of the build. In these photos, you can see a properly prepared wall structure: a breathable membrane and double battening (counter-battens), ready for vertical exterior cladding.

Here is why this invisible air gap is essential:

Moisture & Condensation Control:
The air gap creates continuous ventilation behind the cladding. Circulating air quickly dries out any condensation or trapped moisture after heavy rain.

Protection Against Rot:
By preventing moisture buildup, the main timber frame and insulation stay completely dry. This eliminates the risk of mould and wood rot.

Effective Drainage:
If water ever penetrates the exterior cladding during extreme weather, it simply drains down the protective membrane without ever reaching the pod's core structure.

Thermal Regulation:
In the summer, the facade heats up. The ventilated air gap prevents this heat from transferring directly inside—the warm air simply rises and escapes through the top.

A beautiful deck is great but its lifespan depends on hidden details. Here is our construction standard for this decking project:

• Ground screws – a fast, clean, and rock-solid foundation.
• Rubber isolation – we NEVER put timber directly on screw poles. A rubber strip protects the wood from friction and moisture.
• Joist tape – the top of the frame is sealed with flashing tape to prevent water from trapping under the boards.
• Thermo-wood – premium thermally modified decking that doesn’t warp, crack, and lasts long.

The final result is fantastic! All that’s left is to add some outdoor furniture, lighting and other personal touches, and you have the perfect spot for cozy evenings or slow mornings. ☕️✨
