Every project tells a story—and this one is a perfect example of how great design evolves.

While Solar Structures is best known for our innovative solar pergolas and canopies, this project was a little different. Having already created a stunning solar-covered walkway in the beautiful formal gardens of this historic home, we were delighted to return for Phase Two: a bespoke pergola over the seating area.

The vision for this space belongs entirely to the homeowner, whose creativity and eye for design have transformed these gardens into something truly special. We're grateful they trusted Solar Structures to help bring that vision to life.

The finished result complements the character of this historic property while creating an elegant outdoor living space that's shaded, sheltered, and built to last. Better still, it's another step towards reducing carbon emissions through thoughtful, beautifully integrated solar design.

Projects like this show that sustainability and exceptional design don't just coexist—they enhance one another.

Thank you to our wonderful clients for allowing us to be part of such an inspiring journey.

🌞 A beautiful blend of heritage and sustainability.

Set in the grounds of a historic property in North Cork, this bespoke double solar carport was carefully designed to fit within a tight space while complementing its stunning surroundings.

With a total solar capacity of 7.7kWp, the system also includes an EV charger, inverter and battery storage, helping the homeowner generate clean electricity, charge their car and reduce energy bills—all while preserving the character of this beautiful older property.

We love projects that prove renewable energy can work seamlessly with traditional Irish homes.

🌞 From challenge to opportunity.

This unique solar installation was built on the site of a former Leylandii hedge, requiring a completely bespoke design to make the most of the available space and its beautiful surroundings.

With a significant fall in the ground from east to west, we engineered the structure to slope in two directions, maximising solar generation while maintaining a sleek, low-profile appearance.

The result? A stunning installation that blends seamlessly into the landscape and will provide decades of clean, reliable, and low-cost energy.

A huge thank you to our clients for trusting us with their project. We wish them many years of savings and sustainable energy ahead.

☀️ Our smallest structure to date — proving that limited space doesn’t mean limited solar potential! 🇮🇪

When roof space is at a premium, smart design makes all the difference. By combining roof-mounted panels with panels installed on a custom-built structure, these clients achieved a perfectly sized solar system while also creating a stylish covered outdoor space. ⚡🏡

🔹 Fully galvanised steel structure
🔹 Treated Douglas Fir cladding
🔹 High-efficiency Trina 505W panels
🔹 Incorporated guttering for a clean finish

A practical solution that delivers renewable energy and extra usable outdoor space.

Big thanks to our partners at SolarSmart for helping bring this project to life.

When a home in Co. Wicklow wasn’t suitable for rooftop solar—but energy costs kept rising—we designed a smarter solution ⚡️🌿
This custom-built solar pergola delivers the best of both worlds:
☀️ Clean, renewable energy
🌳 A beautiful, sheltered space to relax and enjoy the garden
This 20-panel galvanised steel structure and finished with Douglas Fir cladding, it blends seamlessly into its surroundings while working hard behind the scenes.
🔋 Powered by high-efficiency Trina 505W panels
⚡️ 10.1 kWp system—more than enough to cover annual energy use
🌍 Major reduction in carbon footprint
🔧 Integrated inverter & battery mounting for a clean, future-ready setup
Not every roof is solar-ready—but every home has potential.
Thinking differently can unlock powerful results.

One of the most overlooked ways to get more from solar is simply upgrading your existing system.

While it can sometimes be complex, it’s often far more straightforward—and cost-effective—than people expect.

On this recent project in North Tipperary, we expanded a system from 4.8kWp to 9.85kWp by adding additional panels to a beautiful coach house roof. The result? More than double the generating capacity for a relatively modest investment.

For this local microbrewery, that means significantly lower energy costs, reduced CO₂ emissions, and a big step forward in their sustainability journey.

Already have solar? You might be closer than you think to unlocking even greater savings.

Turning unused space into clean energy ☀️🇮🇪

We’ve transformed a standard 40ft container into a powerful solar solution using a custom-built mounting system secured with twist locks—no wasted space, no compromise.

With 16 panels installed (11 portrait + 5 landscape), this setup delivers an impressive 10.4 kWp of renewable power ⚡

By fully covering the container, we’re not just generating electricity—we’re also protecting the structure and extending its lifespan.

Smarter use of space. Lower energy costs. Greener future.

That’s a win-win for businesses across Ireland.
Thanks Energywise for another great collaboration - Ní neart go cur le chéile!

Something a bit different this week! We dont usually do roofs without solar, but in this case we were tasked with re-roofing an old mass concrete shed, that had fallen into disrepair. The corrugated steel in red oxide, with custom fabricated matching doors, nicely compliment the Douglas Fir Shiplap, on the front Gable. Grateful to be involved in bringing an old building back to its former glory. It will make a fantastic light filled workshop for many years to come!
