ReelLIFE SCIENCE is a Science video competition for primary and secondary schools and youth organisations in Ireland and Northern Ireland. Participants make a 1-3 minute video on their chosen scientific topic. There are over €5000 worth of prizes on offer for the winning videos and the chance to see your video screened at the Galway Science and Technology Festival this November.

Today is ReelLIFE SCIENCE Deadline Day and already more than 50 schools and groups from 22 counties have sent in their entries, made by over 1000 young people! Judging starts next week so best of luck to all the participants!

Delighted to announce that we have been funded by Research Ireland again this year to run ReelLIFE SCIENCE 2025!

Ministers James Lawless and Helen McEntee have announced a €6.5 million investment in 40 projects designed to enhance public engagement in .

Among the 40 projects supported through the Research Ireland Discover Programme are:

🔵 All-Ireland STEM Passport for Inclusion 2025-2027, which partners with universities and industry to support 5,350 students through university-accredited qualifications, industry mentoring, and industry work experience to explore STEM education and employment opportunities

🔵 A Brush with Climate, which develops workshops and training material which empowers hairdressers to steer conversations toward climate action, using small talk as a tool for change.

🔵 Inclusive Artificial Intelligence for the next generation of innovators. The goal of this project is to embed knowledge and skills in the learning approach of schools and youth services. It is inclusion focused and aims to enhance the capacity of teachers and youth workers to support young people in marginalised communities, raise their awareness of AI, develop an understanding of AI skills, spark further learning and career pathways to address diversity gaps in AI development.

Congratulations to all of the winning filmmakers and science enthusiasts who were presented with their ReelLIFE SCIENCE awards at Sunday's Galway Science & Technology Festival in University of Galway.

Special thanks to President Peter McHugh for making a presentation to BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition winner and ReelLIFE SCIENCE judge Seán O'Sullivan at the Awards.

Finally thanks to all of our amazing volunteers and supporters, particularly Research Ireland, CÚRAM Centre for Research in Medical Devices, Foróige and Cell Explorers.

This year, more than 2,300 young people took part in 99 schools and youth groups around Ireland and Northern Ireland, producing over 300 short science videos on a huge range of topics, from nettles to nanotechnology and from social media to skeletons.

Full STEAM Ahead! University of Galway hosts exhibition of STEAM projects from youth development programmes 🌟

More than 100 young science enthusiasts, aged from 10 and 18, exhibited their Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths (STEAM) projects developed in 10 Foróige youth services and youth development programmes in Galway, Mayo, Roscommon and Westmeath.

The STEAM Showcase was funded by the Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) Discover Programme and is a joint initiative between ReelLIFE SCIENCE and Foróige.

The University of Galway ReelLIFE SCIENCE programme challenges young people in schools and youth groups across the island of Ireland to engage with science and technology while developing the communication and digital skills.
