Only last week, Martin & Harris stood on O Connell St and pretended to honour the men of the 1916 Rising. Within days, they had called their army in to the very same street, against decent, hardworking, Irish men, who just wanted justice and fairness for them and their families - just as Pearse, Connolly and their compatriots sought. The whole country now knows that, had they been alive in 1916, Martin and Harris would have been indignantly and smugly shrieking for executions.
We are into our 7th day of protesting. Weβre a small fuel business, distributing coal oil and gas to people in the Sligo Leitrim area. My father started this business in the early 80s and I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time working with him, meeting the customers and working hard to build our family business. I felt that I had to get involved in the protests, not only to support farmers and hauliers, but for my customers to try and make their lives easier; over β¬250 of every fill of an oil tank is going to the government. Micheal Martin, after over a week of blaming everyone, throwing lies and slander and mud about, came out with a deal for farmers that was such an insult, I now understand why he made sure they were gone out of Dublin before he announced it. But Micheal doesn't realise he may have won the battle but with that statement he's lost the war. We are more resolute now than ever. Martin should have just abolished the carbon tax at least until the fuel crisis is over, because if the agri contractors can't keep going the fuel crisis will be a food crisis. To all the people I met over the last week; heads up, go harder, contact your tds, go to their door and canvass for a no confidence vote in Micheal Martin and maybe we will get a leader that will stand with and for his people instead of a coward that sends in the army to peaceful protests. To those against the protests, canvass your tds as well - this can't stop till Micheal Martin and his dishonest and treacherous ways are gone, because otherwise there will be no food, simple as that.
