A big congratulations to Jason Lawlor, who has successfully completed his Electrical Apprenticeship at Birds Eye, Naas.

It has been great to see Jason develop his skills and experience throughout his apprenticeship, and we are delighted that he will be continuing his career with ESS.

We are looking forward to seeing what is ahead for Jason as he takes the next step in his career.

Some of the most important engineering work is the work nobody notices.

Planned maintenance happens before the breakdown. Fault finding happens before a small issue becomes a bigger one. Improvements are made while production keeps moving. Shutdowns are prepared long before the site stops.

This work rarely gets the same attention as a major repair because, when it is done properly, operations continue as expected.
That is the value of strong engineering support.

It is not only about responding when something goes wrong. It is about the planning, knowledge and preventative work that help keep operations reliable every day.

We are hiring Asset Care Engineers in Limerick and Sligo.

These permanent roles combine asset care improvement, project coordination and CMMS optimisation, helping maintenance and asset management teams work with clearer data, stronger planning and more structured maintenance strategies.

The roles include asset criticality, PM and PdM planning, CMMS structure, maintenance data analysis and collaboration across maintenance, operations and IT teams.

Wishing Ger a very happy retirement! 🎉

Last week, the team at Birds Eye Naas came together to celebrate Ger Chaney and wish him all the very best as he begins a well-deserved retirement after more than 30 years with the business.

Ger has been a familiar and much-loved member of the team over the years, making a fantastic contribution to the Birdseye site across a number of roles.

Ger originally joined ESS more than 30 years ago before moving across to Green Isle Foods, as it was known at the time. After a period away, we were delighted to welcome him back to ESS, where he joined the Utilities team.

It was lovely to see colleagues come together to mark the occasion and share some memories from Ger's many years at the site. The ESS team also presented Ger with a card and voucher signed by colleagues, including those who couldn't be there on the day, so everyone could be part of the celebrations.

Ger, thank you for all your hard work, commitment and friendship over the past 30-plus years. You will certainly be missed!

From everyone at ESS and Birds Eye, we wish you a long, happy and well-deserved retirement.

Enjoy the next chapter, Ger. Put the feet up, enjoy some well-earned time off and make the most of it! 🥂
