Meet the Team – Alan Young
This week, we are introducing Alan, a key member of our Technical Operations Support & Planning team, helping ensure smooth delivery across critical environments.
What is your current role at Eirdata?
Technical Operations Support & Planning after spending a few years in the field as a validation engineer.
How long have you been with the company?
10 years and counting
What part of your job do you enjoy the most?
Interaction with clients, making new connections and building relationships. Interaction with all my colleagues on a daily basis, leaning on their experience & knowledge to continuously develop my own skill set.
What’s a skill or area you’ve really developed since joining Eirdata?
Since joining Eirdata, I like to think my leadership skills have developed. One area I’ve really developed is structured problem-solving in live operational environments.
Any hobbies or interests people might be surprised to learn about?
My hobbies usually revolve around watching rugby, keeping fit, learning guitar, DIY at home and for my family.
If you weren’t in this industry, what job would you love to try?
While I was in the trade, I always imaged getting into a teaching role for apprentices. I’ve mentored apprentices while in the trade and mentored graduate engineers who joined the Eirdata Team while I was out in the field as a validation engineer. So yeah, maybe I like to try a teaching role.
