How do you teach a robot to place a tiny rubber ring into a clear plastic tray, hundreds of times over, without a single one going in wrong? π€
That was the challenge in our latest case study. The trays were see-through and the little wells sat really close together, so the camera system struggled to find them reliably.
The clever fix? Instead of looking at the wells themselves, our engineers realised the tiny gaps between them showed up slightly darker under the right lighting.
That small detail gave the system something solid to lock onto, and everything clicked into place from there. The result was 2.5 times faster than before, with 99.7% accuracy. π
