The Kilmurry Lodge Hotel in Castletroy, Co. Limerick, is progressing well on site. The reinforced concrete frame was finished ahead of schedule thanks to the Post Tensioned Slabs designed by Subterra Group Ltd. The next structural challenge will be the construction of two steel link bridges between the new concrete structure and the existing hotel.

We look forward to continuing to the next stages of the project.

We are delighted to share that the Merchant’s House Complex project in Kilmallock has successfully progressed to Design stage. The design proposal for the complex aims to conserve and enhance, with suitable interventions, the middle and rear sections of the Merchant’s House, transforming it into adaptable multifunctional spaces while also restoring the adjoining buildings.

The complex will include an Innovation Hub to support micro, small, and start-up enterprises in creative industries, including animation and production; Community/Civic facilities for meetings, events, and exhibitions; and Tourism Facilities, including visitor information and interpretative installations.

Additional features will include:
🌱A restored medieval garden
🛍️Retail spaces
☕️A café
🌿Greenspace in the burgage plots at the rear

The project aspires to draw in entrepreneurs, visitors, and community groups, boosting pedestrian footfall, enhancing vibrancy, and creating synergy with the nearby Friar’s Gate Theatre.

We are looking forward to progressing the project for Limerick City and County Council. PUNCH will provide Civil & Structural Engineering services, working alongside our design team partners.

Last Friday, PUNCH’s Technical Director of Ecology, Emma Devereux, presented to Members of RIAI, IPI, ILI and CIEEM on the importance of integrating ecology from the feasibility stages of engineering projects. Emma’s presentation delivered real-world examples of how ecological solutions can complement engineering design when integrated at the correct project stage. Thanks to Engineers Ireland for the platform to deliver this presentation.

It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of Joe Murphy, one of PUNCH’s founding partners and long time Directors, who died yesterday afternoon 15th April 2026.
Joe played a pivotal role in shaping PUNCH from its earliest days, and his contribution to the firm and to the wider engineering community cannot be overstated.
We extend our sincere condolences to Joe’s family and his very wide circle of friends and colleagues, many of whom worked closely with him during his long and distinguished career at PUNCH.
Joe embodied everything that is best about PUNCH, warm, engaging, generous in spirit, and exceptionally capable.

We’re excited to share the next step in the Renmore Neighbourhood Park Project 🌿

This project is about reimagining and better connecting the green spaces across Renmore, Ballyloughane Beach and Lough Atalia — creating places that everyone can enjoy now and into the future.

After listening to the community during consultations in 2025, the design team has developed preferred designs for each area. We’d love to hear what you think.

✅ View the designs and share your feedback through a short online survey on www.RenmorePark.com, opening from Wednesday 9 April 2026
🗓️ Survey closes: Sunday 10 May 2026

You can also come along to our drop-in event to see the designs and chat with the team:
📍 Connacht Hotel, Old Dublin Road
🕒 Monday 20 April | 3:30pm–8pm

Your views will help shape these spaces for the local community for generations to come.

This World Health Day, we reflect on the opportunities we, as Engineers, have to make an impact on global health infrastructure. We believe that through innovative engineering, we can enhance the environments in which healthcare professionals operate, ultimately improving patient outcomes and experiences. We have had the pleasure of working with some of Ireland’s largest healthcare facilities, and through design, our team is proud to contribute to the foundation of accessible healthcare systems.

As we look back on our achievements, we remain committed to advancing our expertise in healthcare engineering. Our goal is to continue collaborating with partners to create spaces that meet today's needs while anticipating the challenges of tomorrow.

This World Health Day, we at PUNCH Consulting Engineers would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to all healthcare professionals who work tirelessly to keep our communities healthy and safe. Your dedication is truly inspiring, and your efforts do not go unnoticed.
