Better Energy Homes - New Higher Grants
Dear Contractor,
We are delighted to tell you that from today we are increasing the grant levels available to homeowners under the Better Energy Homes scheme. These changes, informed in part by contractor feedback, are designed to encourage wider participation in the scheme and encourage homeowners to complete deeper upgrades on their homes.
Key changes:
- Significantly higher grant amounts for all energy efficiency measures (detailed in the links below)
- There is no minimum grant level for first time applicants
- A new bonus of €300 is payable after the third energy efficiency measure and €100 after the fourth
- Previous applicants can apply for additional measures and relevant bonus grants
Changes apply to:
- All open applications not yet paid at 10th March 2015
- New applications received from 10th March 2015 onwards
SEAI will run contractor workshops in March and April to explain the changes above as well as a number of other actions to provide more efficiency and support to registered contractors. Further details of these workshops will follow shortly. In the coming months we will also adapt our approach to inspections, reflecting contractor quality performance as the scheme matures. Please note that there are no changes to your current registration or to the Contractor Terms and Conditions.
We expect that growing consumer confidence and these scheme changes will result in more retrofit activity for contractors and higher grant applications. We encourage you to tell current and prospective customers about the new Better Energy Homes grant opportunities.
You’ll find more information online in the new Better Energy Homes brochure and Frequently Asked Questions or by calling 1850 927 000.
Yours sincerely,
Better Energy Homes Team
