Robert Boyle Summer School In 2018 the complementary RB Winter School was established in Dublin. The 13th Robert Boyle Summer School will take place June 2025 in Lismore, Co. Waterford.

A look back at what we learned during the 2026 Robert Boyle Summer School 👏☀️

This year’s speakers explored the theme Mind & Matter through the lenses of 🔍 Curiosity, 🎨 Creativity, and 🧠 Critical Thinking. Sessions sparked thought-provoking conversations on what it means to be an artist, how AI is shaping society, and the importance of bringing curiosity into both art and science.

Thank you to everyone who shared their insights and joined the discussions. Here’s to continuing the conversations and embracing our sense of curiosity about the world around us.

Happy Bloomsday!

Today we celebrate the life and legacy of James Joyce, one of Ireland’s most influential writers, whose work continues to shape how we think about literature, memory, identity, and place.

At the 2026 Robert Boyle Summer School earlier this month, Prof. Luke Gibbons explored Joyce and “the Mind in Society” and talked about the 1997 art project created by Frances Hegarty & Andrew Stones. The project featured returning passages from Molly Bloom’s soliloquy to the streets of Dublin, placing Joyce’s words back into the city that inspired them.

Curiousity, Creativity, and Critical Thinking

Three concepts that were prevalent in this years Robert Boyle Summer Schools, exploring the theme of Mind & Matter.

We had an amazing lineup of speakers that spoke on topics ranging from serial killers, theory of mind, epilepsy, poetry, AI and social media, the ageing mind, and the artistic process. Needless to say, there was quite a lot to discuss!
