✨38 Years old and still going strong; Ceide Fields Visitor Centre Sewage Treatment Plant.

We have a sewage treatment plant that has been operating for 38 years.

It's on the west coast of Ireland, at Céide Fields, the oldest stone walled fields ever discovered, dating back 6,000 years ever discovered. The West Coast of Ireland bears the brunt of Atlantic storms especially in Winter, meaning that only a robust sewage treatment system will survive there.

💡Our BMS Aerotor next generation RBC Sewage Treatment Plant still works well. We still maintain and supply spare parts for it.

When we talk about designing sewage treatment plants to last 30+ years, that's not a marketing line. It's the actual design standard we work to.

🔍The decision to install a package STP isn't just a procurement decision; it's a 30-year operating commitment. In our experience the sewage treatment system with the cheapest up front price very rarely turns out to be the lowest-cost unit over its lifetime.
Power consumption, maintenance frequency, spare parts availability and manufacturer support all matter a great deal when you're looking at three decades of operation. Most importantly is that the system consistently performs to the designated outlet standard with minimal operator input, especially with varying loads!

We've been in business since 1986. We have complete files for every product we've ever manufactured. We've supplied spare parts for systems installed before some of our clients' engineers were born around the world. BMS Aerotor/Blivet Sewage Treatment Systems have been installed in 60+ Countries for 40 years!

If you want to understand how to select a package STP for long-term value, not just upfront cost, our free design webinar covers it in detail.

❓ "How are you going to maintain this SUDS system in 20 years?"
It's the question planning authorities ask about every attenuation and infiltration surface water management system and it's a fair one.

Most systems don't have a good answer. However, BMS do:
💡 For crate systems:
Run a perforated pipe through the stone bed beneath the crates. The self-cleaning velocity of water moving through the pipe carries solids to the outlet manhole—no access to the system required. The pipe can be jet-washed if needed. Effectively maintenance-free.
💡 For tunnel systems:
Install an isolator row, a single central tunnel enclosed in permeable geotextile with an impermeable base liner. Direct all inflow into that row. Solids concentrate there. Everything else stays clean. Maintenance is at the inlet or outlet manhole.

🚀 Combine either with a Petrol/Oil Interceptor/Separator or a vortex separator like the Stormbreaker Defender downstream and the volume of solids reaching the system drops dramatically. These can both be fitted with an alarm that activate a beacon or text designated numbers once a designated level of silt/oil is reached. Even where there is power not available, we have solar power solutions available!

Planning authorities in Ireland have accepted both solutions on multiple projects. We've been refining these approaches for 40 years.

👀 The full details, including how to specify them and present them to a planning authority, are in our free SuDS webinar. Watch it here.

We have just published our latest case study on how our Drainmax Infiltration/Attenuation Tunnels provided a great value and smart design to a new sports club in Dublin.
BMS worked with GMCS Construction to design, install and certify a value-engineered 575 m³ capacity surface water infiltration system using BMS Drainmax Tunnels for a new sports facility in Clonsilla, Dublin 15. The system was delivered across two tanks and designed to provide maximum value while addressing challenging ground conditions, including a hard rock layer encountered just below subsoil level. BMS collaborated closely with the client to develop a design that minimised upfront costs while maintaining performance and compliance. Despite difficult excavation conditions, the system was installed efficiently to meet programme demands.

Good morning, today we shipped one of our BL3500 Blivet Package Sewage Treatment Systems to a new housing development of 38 houses in Co. Meath.
The development is only able to go ahead with the installation of the BMS Blivet, as the local municipal plant is overloaded. The Blivet will treat the sewage generated by the houses, meaning that there will be no additional organic load put on the plant.
The BMS Blivet had enabled housing projects to ahead in Lusk, Dublin, Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Kingscourt, Co. Cavan, Arklow Co. Wicklow, Brittany, France, Perth Australia….
Why is the Blivet the leading solution for temporary sewage treatment?
1. It is a complete ‘all in one’ package that is delivered to site ready to go.
2. It can be installed above/below ground without a concrete surround.
3. It is the most compact ‘all in one’ system available, so can fit in the tightest of spaces.
4. It has a market leading cost of ownership i.e. very low civil, maintenance and power costs.
5. It can easily be removed and redeployed when a project finishes. This is not the case with the majority of other systems available.
6. It can be fully financed by Hire Purchase.
If you have a project which is on hold because the municipal sewage treatment is overloaded or no sewage connection is available, please contact the experts, with unbeatable track in 60+ countries over 40 years.

🛑 A HOUSING ESTATE NEEDED TO GO AHEAD. THE MUNICIPAL SEWAGE TREATMENT PLANT COULDN'T TAKE ANY MORE LOAD.
⚠️ Problem:
A housing estate in Arklow, Co. Wicklow, Ireland needed to go ahead. However, the municipal plant couldn't take any more load.

💡 Solution: Irish Water gave permission for the housing estate to go ahead if Blivet Package Sewage Treatment Plants were installed to treat the effluent on site before discharge.

‘Treat the sewage on-site to BOD 25 mg/l and SS 35 mg/l before it enters the sewer. If you can do that, you can discharge. The organic load hitting the plant actually improves, because you're diluting the incoming stream with treated effluent.’

✅ BMS successfully provided this solution:
Phase 1: 34 houses → 136 PE. One BL2000 Blivet.
Phase 2: 26 more houses → another BL2000 Blivet
Phase 3: 137 houses → 2 More BL2000 Blivet’s (total 4 units) treating 800 PE across

💰 Cost was spread across the development as each phase was completed. Civil works were done once up front, so adding capacity was a day's work each time.

🏆 The plant has been operating for years. The new Arklow municipal plant has recently been commissioned so the Blivet’s will be emptied and easily removed in the coming months and redeployed to another site. One of the main reasons why the BMS Blivet is the leading choice for temporary sewage treatment is that it can be place above or below ground, without a concrete surround. In the case they were buried up to lid level.

🚧 Decommissioning is simple:
1. Empty the Blivet’s by suction tanker.
2. Excavate around the soil around the units.
3. Disconnect the inlet/outlet pipes and power.
4. Lift on to a truck.

This is a great example of how you keep housing moving when infrastructure is behind.
