At the recent Irish Build and Design awards Dominic O’Connor Ltd was up for 3 awards, and whilst we didn’t bring the trophies home on this particular occasion, it was wonderful to celebrate the achievement of being nominated with our industry colleagues.

All the team at Dominic O'Connor Ltd. were delighted to learn that our 2024/2025 Design & Build bundle of projects for the Longford and Westmeath Education and Training Board (LWETB) has made the finalist shortlist for the Environmental Impact Award at the upcoming Irish Building and Design Awards.

This D&B bundle comprised four separate schools, with the primary objective being the implementation of a suite of deep energy retrofit measures alongside renewable heating solutions across all four sites.

To ensure alignment with the Project Ex*****on Plan, the design was required to achieve the following performance targets:

51% reduction in overall carbon emissions

51% reduction in direct carbon emissions

50% reduction in primary energy demand

BER rating of B

Renewable heat contribution, minimum of 90% of the annual space heating demand to be met by renewable heat sources

The schools included in the bundle were:

Daingean NS,
Coláiste Naomh Cormac,
Mullingar Community College, &
An Grianán NS Moate.

Image 1 is a sleek gas powered boiler upgrade recently completed by us, sleek, quiet and energy efficient.
Image 2 is what was replaced, the bin above is a huge tuft hopper! Amazing to see such engineering progress in operation, and it being implemented to such an incredibly high standard by Dominic O’Connor Ltd 👏🏼

At the recent All-Ireland Occupational Safety Awards on October 10th, Dominic O’Connor Ltd. were honoured with two awards that truly reflect our company ethos — a Higher Distinction in Safety Award and a Consistent High Achiever in Safety Award.

Best wishes to DOC Mechanicals own Thomas Murray and his Tulsk team mates who compete in the Hannon Hotel Division 5 League Final this coming Saturday. The team are already celebrating winning the Donnellan & Co Division 2 O'Gara Cup last Sunday, having beaten Eirog in the final in a scoreline of 1-17 to 12 points.
