What does a typical day in our workshop look like?

On any given day, our Workshop team execute a range of complete mechanical and electrical overhauls on units that arrive in various operating conditions and in need of repair. Our Workshop returns these units to customers fully restored, tested, and performing to the highest standard. Each repair is completed with careful attention to detail to ensure long-term reliability and efficiency.

At the same time, brand-new motors are also being dispatched on the very same day they are ordered, thanks to our extensive stock availability. Maintaining a wide and diverse inventory allows us to respond quickly to customer requirements and minimise downtime by supplying the right products without delay.

While the images shown represent only a small selection of the projects completed in our facility, they reflect the wide variety of repair, refurbishment, testing, and supply work carried out at Avonmore Electrical every single day.

What does a VSD-Powered Motor look like when it needs an electrical and mechanical overhaul?

The Challenge:
This motor is 150Hz, powered by a Variable Speed Drive to convert the mains frequency from 50 to 150Hz. The original bearings were standard, with the actual bearing housings insulated, as shown in the insulation ring. Following testing of the insulation resistance of each bearing housing, we refurbed and replaced these elements, to prevent electrical discharge. The final image shows the existing bearings now display no evidence of electrical discharge; therefore, the insulated bearing housings are working perfectly.

What We Did:
👉 Extracted the Coupling
👉 Performed TIR on the Shaft
👉 Dismantled the entire motor assembly
👉 Carried out various electrical tests on stator windings
👉 Replaced the bearings
