Recognising future engineering talent in County Monaghan
As part of our Manufacturing Day celebrations at Combilift’s HQ, we were proud to launch the new Combilift Future Engineers Award- an initiative designed to encourage the next generation to pursue careers in engineering and manufacturing.
From the Leaving Certificate class of 2027, any student in County Monaghan who achieves a H1 in Engineering or Technology will receive a €500 award and special recognition trophy from Combilift.
More than 100 fifth-year students and their Engineering and Technology teachers from schools across County Monaghan joined us for the day, getting a first-hand look at modern manufacturing through factory tours and practical activities across mechatronics, electrical engineering, electronics, technical engineering, lean management, automation and driverless technology.
The initiative was officially announced by our CEO and Co-Founder Martin McVicar, alongside contributions from Shane Beirne, Head of Public Sector at Ibec (Irish Business and Employers Confederation), and AnnaMarie Woods, OEM Engineering Apprenticeship Programme Manager, who shared valuable insight into the opportunities available to young people across manufacturing and engineering.
A huge thank you to Ibec, the OEM Engineering Apprenticeship team, Monaghan Institute, all of the schools, teachers and students who joined us, and everyone across Combilift who helped make the day possible.
We hope the Future Engineers Award will not only recognise outstanding achievement here in Monaghan, but also encourage more young people to see the exciting opportunities that a future in engineering can offer.
