Winner winner, insect dinner! 🐾

After a recent visit to Hexafly HQ, our friend Dr. Frank Clarke kindly gifted us some of his insect-based Omuu Petfood pet food to try out.

And as you can see, it's a clear favourite with our expert taste tester, Joe.

For some more food for thought, read this article where Dr. Frank urges pet owners to consider the planet by feeding dogs insect-based meals: https://bit.ly/3oVmaov

Here's something you need to know about us - we hate waste. 🗑️

At Hexafly HQ, nothing is wasted. Instead, our solution takes in waste streams and converts them into a range of important products in an environmentally-friendly process.

Using the natural life cycle of the Black Soldier Fly as a blueprint for producing sustainable proteins, oils, and fertilisers; the result is a low greenhouse gas emitting, closed-loop recycling system. ♻️

Oftentimes, people ask us what’s the best part of what we do, or more often - why we do what we do.

Our motivation comes from a deep desire to make a real change in the world. In revolutionising insect farming we can find smarter ways to feed the planet, and in turn end the overexploitation of land and ocean, ultimately adding to the progress of the human race.

At Hexafly, we are the in action. ♻️

From every 1,000kg of food waste that we intake, we recover 75kg of Protein Meal, 60kg of Oil and, 700kg of Fertiliser.

This range of high-quality protein derivatives called Hexameal™, Hexaoil™, Hexafrass™ and Hexagrubs™ are used in farming and food processing, from which the waste is collected and the cycle starts again.

When Hexafly began, Alvan & John started looking towards the future, at population growth and the need for an alternative, sustainable protein source for the agriculture & aquaculture industries. That future is now upon us, and maintaining the status quo is no longer an option.

Let’s take action together, to protect our planet and to help Ireland drive forward its plans for cutting emissions. Learn how our process & products are helping to create the revolution needed to achieve these targets: hexafly.com

With the cooler weather setting in, we're here to remind you to feed the birds.🐦 There is strong evidence to suggest that garden bird feeding has supported population growth in some bird species, and has increased the diversity of species visiting feeders.

And if that isn't saying enough, we'll let this review from Vincent do the talking.👇

Ps. Hedgehogs love Hexagrubs too. 🦔

Here's why we don't dread Mondays... we’ve got big plans keeping us motivated & striving towards our goals.

The future of our food security in the face of shrinking natural resources has been largely overlooked. However, the future of Hexafly is clear - the need to expand to do more.

We are ready to feed the world.

It's been a busy week, with lots of interesting things on the horizon! 🤩 You see, here at Hexafly we love learning more about what other companies are doing to make their business more sustainable.♻️

This week Max Murphy, John Lynam, Stephen Broe, and Brendan Keane caught up with Chris Molamphy and Colm Killerlane from Diageo.

The Diageo team has been doing some really great things to make a genuine impact. It was a pleasure to get a full tour of the site and see their process, as we continue our tests on their spent grains/byproducts for some big future plans. 🗓️

We came away feeling really excited about getting our heads together with this fantastic team.
