t was fantastic to be presented the Civil Engineering Project over €50 Million award at the Irish Construction Excellence Awards for the successful delivery of Rosslare Europort Terminal 7 and Enabling Works.

This recognition reflects the dedication, collaboration, expertise and commitment of everyone involved in this landmark project that has strengthened Ireland's strategic connectivity with the rest of Europe.

A sincere thank you to our client, the OPW - Office of Public Works and their design team, as well as Rosslare Europort, Iarnród Éireann Irish Rail, our design partners, supply chain partners and the wider project team whose collaborative approach made this achievement possible. Finally, this was great testament to our own team who embodied our philosophy in project delivery.

Congratulations to all of the finalists and winners on the night, and thank you to the organisers of the Irish Construction Excellence Awards for another excellent event.

As part of our ongoing commitment to STEM Passport for Inclusion we facilitated Safe Pass Training for 20 students in our partnership school Olm Drimnagh . This training, delivered by Joe Devlin of Shorcontrol Safety, is a great insight into site safety and the industry as a whole. The feedback from the students and school was great and we'll continue to explore new ways of bringing a career in construction into the limelight.

We had a fantastic evening at the Staff Relay Series in Phoenix Park yesterday. Team members from across John Paul Construction laced up their runners to take on the 5k relay route alongside teams from a wide range of organisations.

Now in our 9th year taking part, the event continues to be a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, enjoy some friendly competition and spend time together outside of work.

A big thank you to everyone who took part and cheered us on throughout the evening. We’re already looking forward to next year!

The theme of the global Construction Safety Week this year is Recognise, Respond and Respect.

Recognise the potential hazards.

Respond by putting plans and controls in place.

Respect the risks.

Building on the theme we factored in the importance of mental health and wellbeing. Communicating the importance of recognising, responding and respecting the related issues.

Furthermore, we included a fourth pillar – Reward. Acknowledging the great work across our projects on health, safety and wellbeing.

We’ve already had a great start to the week with Mick Loughran and Musgrove & Ball offering stimulating talks to echo the importance of these messages.
