Hello everyone from the Kepler CanSat Team.
It is with great regret that I must inform you, that Summerhill's Kepler CanSat lost whilst competing in the Irish Nationals last weekend. We tried our best and worked very hard over the duration of the project, especially at the final hurdle.
Due to unforeseen problems that arose the night before the competition with our computer wiping itself, crashing and also burning out a PCB. We came under a lot of pressure as we had to redo our code and presentation.
For two days over the competition whilst other teams were getting a good nights rest we were up working around the clock for 41 hours.
In the end, we applied ourself's cooperating as a team and didn't do shabby of a job of it with a semi-functional CanSat and a decent rework of our old presentation.
But unfortunately it wasn't the original standard that we had set out for, and we realized this, especially with some of our secondary missions not being able to deploy due to the lack of time to fix them.
And so, as all things come to an end we'd like to say that we enjoyed our second year of the CanSat competition and together we have gained a lot of experience throughout our journey. Learning vital skills in communication, teamwork, and technology. Life is all about the experience.
Next year we won't be able to compete as our Team will have their Leaving Cert to worry about. But from all of us at the Kepler CanSat, a final farewell to all of our friends and followers. 🚀👋
And a special thanks to all who helped from IT Sligo and our teachers from Summerhill College who coordinated emails and droves us back and forth.
Note: As head of PR I will be making some finishing posts, with a video of the rocket and some pictures when they are received at a later date.
