⚡ Private Wires Policy - A New Era for Direct Energy Connections 🔌
The Irish government is finally introducing a Private Wires Policy, enabling developers to construct and operate certain electricity lines. Under this policy, private wires will allow generators to connect directly to end-users, including battery storage systems and hybrid configurations, when proven to be cost-effective.
Additionally, the EU Innovation Fund supports projects within the European Economic Area that significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions, including onsite renewable solutions demonstrating measurable carbon savings. Although this is a long overdue welcome move, the policy must still pass through the legislative process, and as always, the devil will be in the detail. More information will emerge as things progress.
For large industrial energy users, SMEs and commercial facilities, now is the time to explore behind-the-meter green energy generation. From feasibility assessments to beneficial operation, we’re here to help. With over 18 years of experience in behind-the-meter projects, we understand the sector inside and out, this is what we do.
