Congratulations to our Ph.D. student Shmuel Burg on his paper in Talanta (Elsevier, ScienceDirect) — his 5th Ph.D. publication and 3rd as first author.

The paper introduces a highly sensitive, cost-effective biosensing technology. Its design makes it suitable for point-of-care diagnostics in low-resource settings.

This work was done in collaboration with the National Center for Zoonotic Viruses, Central Virology Laboratory, Sheba Medical Center (המרכז הרפואי שיבא תל השומר), and
Hanoi Medical University

Special thanks to M.Sc. alumni Yossi Teubul and Reut Askenazy, lab managers Dr. Linoy Golani and Dr. Meir Cohen, and Ph.D. colleague Sophie Terenteva for their contributions.

On November 19th, Prof. Amos Danielli, head of our lab, delivered a guest lecture at the הטכניון - מכון טכנולוגי לישראל | Technion הפקולטה להנדסת ביוטכנולוגיה ומזון בטכניון

He discussed the key challenges in the rapid detection of biomarkers across diverse fields and presented the innovative solutions developed in our lab.

We sincerely thank Prof. Ester Segal, Dean of the Faculty, for the warm invitation and hospitality, and Dr. Michael Levy for organizing the event.

A memorable moment concluded the visit, as a young and enthusiastic student requested a photo with Prof. Danielli — a reminder of the inspiration that scientific exchange can spark.😏

On September 11, 2025, exactly two years after their first meeting, Prof. Amos Danielli met in Boston with Prof. Kimberly Hamad-Schifferli (University of Massachusetts), whose research work focuses on nanoparticle-based rapid antigen tests enhanced by AI, to launch their joint NSF-BSF project on flavivirus detection, together with Prof. Eli Schwartz (The Sheba Medical Center at Tel Hashomer). This three-year collaboration integrates AI-driven diagnostics and highly sensitive biosensing systems to detect viruses such as Zika, dengue, and West Nile, intending to develop a low-cost, open-source diagnostic tool to address emerging global health threats.

Congratulations to our lab members, Ms. Ellie Levy and Ms. Sophie Terenteva, on receiving their MSc degrees in Electrical Engineering from the הפקולטה להנדסה אוניברסיטת בר-אילן Faculty of Engineering, Bar-Ilan. As part of their thesis work, both researchers made substantial contributions to the pioneering research carried out in our lab. We are proud of their accomplishments and wish them continued success in their future endeavors.
