This week, our team is performing a comprehensive five-year maintenance outage at an end-of-line substation.

Unlike a standard transmission substation, an end-of-line substation plays a unique role in the grid and includes a different equipment configuration designed to supply downstream networks reliably and efficiently.

During the outage, our engineers and technicians are carrying out extensive testing, inspections, and preventive maintenance on all critical assets, including power transformers, CTs, VTs, disconnectors, protection systems, switchgear, and auxiliary equipment.

From the high-voltage yard to the low-voltage systems, every component is thoroughly checked to identify potential issues before they become failures.

This year, our team is carrying out comprehensive five-year maintenance activities at substations in the far south. These planned outages are a critical part of ensuring the long-term reliability, safety, and performance of the power system.

During these maintenance campaigns, extensive testing, inspections, and preventive maintenance are performed on virtually all major equipment within the substation, including:

⚡️Power Transformers
⚡️Zig-Zag Transformers
⚡️Step-Up and Auxiliary Transformers
⚡️Current Transformers (CTs)
⚡️High-Voltage Circuit Breakers
⚡️Protection and Control Systems
⚡️DC Systems and Auxiliary Equipment
⚡️Switchgear and Additional Substation Assets

The work includes electrical and mechanical inspections, protection testing, calibration, diagnostics, condition assessments, and preventive maintenance activities designed to identify potential issues before they impact system operation.

As part of our ongoing maintenance activities in high-voltage substations and power plants, we recently carried out a focused intervention based on early diagnostics.

During last year's maintenance, an abnormal deviation was identified in winding resistance measurements on the high-voltage side. Based on this finding, a precise maintenance plan was prepared in advance.

During the recent outage, the relevant phase and insulator were dismantled. Inspection revealed a slightly loosened armature, which was corrected through mechanical tightening and full reassembly of the insulation system.

Comprehensive electrical tests were then performed, confirming that all parameters are now within acceptable limits and the equipment is operating as expected.

This case highlights the value of condition-based maintenance, early detection, and attention to detail in ensuring long-term reliability.
