. SPE and Israel
Following recent success and the discovery of two large sized reservoirs offshore Israel (Tamar and Leviathan),the oil and gas industry in Israel begins to form. These two discoveries, despite their impressive size, comprise only a small percent of the oil and gas still to be discovered in the Levantine Basin region. This promises more exploration activity in the region in the following years to come. Considering the fast and successful growth of the oil and gas industry offshore Israel, the Board of the Society of Petroleum Engineers wish to see the creation of a SPE Section of Israel within the East, Central and Southern Europe Region - this Region is made of the following Sections: Austria, Croatia, France, Germany, Greece (since 2013), Italy, Hungary, Poland, Portugal (since 2012), Romania, Switzerland (since 2006), Spain and Turkey. The main benefits of having a local Section are the following:
- Several lectures a year by Distinguished Lecturers ("DL's"). The Section will select the topics that DL's, World specialists in their own field, will develop at the occasion of Section meetings.
- Online shared lectures with other sections
- Local networking.
- Social events with the members' family. Who is it for? All professionals working in the industry of oil and gas or interested in working in the industry. These could be different levels of engineers in either Up, Mid or Down Stream or any professionals that support operations dealing with oil and gas exploration and production. Such members could be coming from fields such as Geology/Environmental Protection/Finance/Law/Logistics and Coordination/Shipping etc. What's next? We glad to announce that we have successfully reached the required number of resident SPE members to officially open the Israeli section and are now recruiting new members to join us and support this rapidly developing community. So if you are interested in getting hands on with the oil and gas industry or that you are a professional working in Israel in the industry and would like to participate in lectures and get to know the local community or if you are just looking to communicate and do networking with the people that are part of this industry this is the place for you.
