Tested under real farming conditions in the Northern Netherlands, the project targets 10–20% water savings and 5–15% energy savings, without compromising yield or crop quality.

💧 Can aquifer depletion be reversed? Sheridan County, Kansas, came close. By combining a shared limit on groundwater pumping with real-time soil moisture data and precise irrigation scheduling, local irrigators were able to bring aquifer decline close to net zero, while keeping farm income steady.

It’s a powerful example of what can happen when field-level precision meets a shared water goal.

The lesson goes beyond Kansas: better data helps growers know when to irrigate, how much water crops actually need, and how to make every drop count without relying on guesswork.
