Er:YAG Laser for Surgical Crown Lengthening

A great clinical case shared by Dr. Chang-Kai Chen, from Taiwan, demonstrating the use of Er:YAG laser at 2,940 nm for both soft tissue incision and bone remodeling during crown lengthening.

The case highlights one of the key advantages of Er:YAG technology: the ability to work on both soft and hard tissue with minimal thermal effect on the surrounding tissues.

The postoperative follow-up is particularly interesting, showing stable tissue results at 1.5, 3 and 6 months.

Dr. Chen also references his published research comparing Er:YAG laser crown lengthening with conventional surgical techniques, including findings of minimal thermal damage and good tissue stability.

Clinical evidence like this continues to demonstrate the versatility of Er:YAG technology in modern restorative and periodontal dentistry.
