Every object has two double layers of charge surrounding the object. The first layer, the surface charge (either positive or negative), consists of ions adsorbed onto the object at the surface due to chemical interactions. The second layer is composed of ions attracted to the surface charge via the coulomb force, electrically screening the first layer. It is also called the diffuse layer. The particles are regularly being replaced in both the layers, Whenever there is a separation of charge, there is always some potential. So the potential difference between both, fixed and diffused layer is called zeta potential. The zeta potential is a key indicator of the stability of colloidal dispersions. The magnitude of the zeta potential indicates the degree of electrostatic repulsion between adjacent, similarly charged particles in a dispersion. So, colloids with high zeta potential (negative or positive) are electrically stabilized while colloids with low zeta potentials tend to coagulate or flocculate as outlined in the table. ECOCLEAN converts the ionic condition of metal to non-ionic condition, which weakens the zeta potential magnitude at the slipping plane, thus the bond gets weak & the scale starts loosening & the loosen scale comes out of the system & in this way it doesn’t allow the TDS of the system water to increase, resulting in a clean & clear circulating water.
