In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being, we are launching the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana. This project, with an investment of over Rs. 75,000 crores, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

Govt to increase rooftop solar subsidy to 60% under Pradhan Mantri Suryoday Yojana.

This Suryoday scheme will focus on those consumers whose consumption is less than 300 units, which generally includes the economically weaker section of our society. For them, going and taking a loan is a problem. We intend to increase the subsidy to about 60%," Singh said while addressing the reporters. He added that this subsidy for the northeast and hilly states will be 70%.

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has taken a major step to simplify the application process of grid-connected solar projects. The new MNRE notification said that the discoms should seek only the consumers' electricity bills for technical feasibility approval for rooftop solar.

MNRE Increases Subsidy For New Residential Solar Rooftop Consumers. As per the new notification, MNRE will grant a CFA of Rs 18,000 per KW for residential solar rooftop projects between 1-3 KW capacity. This contrasts with the existing CFA grant of Rs 14,588/KW.
