A 33-year-old techie received a call that sounded exactly like his cousin. The scammer used an AI tool to clone the cousin’s voice from videos shared on Instagram.
The scammer created panic, demanded urgency, and used a deepfake voice to win trust.
He lost ₹85,000 in minutes.

1. They collect voice samples from social media reels or WhatsApp audio.
2. Use AI tools to clone the voice.
3. Call the victim using that voice, pretending to be someone they trust.
4. Create panic. Demand immediate UPI transfer.
5. Disappear.
