Team Quatlas achieved 4th rank in Oral Presentations and 8th rank Overall amongst 43 international teams in the 2020 SAE Aero Design West competition. The announcement of the result was delayed due to the pandemic. We are very proud to share that our rank in the Oral Presentations in the 2020 competition has been the highest rank ever in the history of our team. Due to the pandemic, the competition was modified greatly. The flight rounds were cancelled and only the scores for the Design Report and the Oral Presentation were considered for the overall ranking. The Oral Presentation was delivered via WebEx on 15th May 2020.
The following is the list of the members of the 2020 Quatlas Team:
Rahul Deodhar (Capt.), Rishabh Menon (V. Capt.), Rishabh Rajiv (V. Capt.), Nishan Mohanty (V. Capt.), Prarthana Anand, Mohammed Rayan, Anubhav Vishwakarma, Partha Meravanige, Sanjeev Navaratna, A***n Vaidya, Vikram Vaidya and Ananya Muralidhar.
For the team’s senior members (Rahul Deodhar, Rishabh Menon, Rishabh Rajiv and Nishan Mohanty), 2020 was their last year serving the team. The team is immensely grateful to them for the hard work they put in over the years to take the team to where it is today. The team wishes them great success and all the very best for their future.
The team will be continued by the highly talented and passionate junior members (Anubhav Vishwakarma, Partha Meravanige, Mohammed Rayan, A***n Vaidya, Sanjeev Navaratna, Vikram Vaidya, Ananya Muralidhar along with all the new recruits).
Our result for the 2020 competition wouldn’t have been possible without the help and support of a lot of people and we thank them all.
Firstly, we would like to thank all of our parents for their love and support and constant motivation.
We would like to thank the ex-presenters of our team Vaishnavi Kannur and Shreya Srinarasi for helping us with the presentation. We relied greatly upon their presentation design and framework which they had made in the previous years.
Next, we would like to thank Shantanu Gupta, Shubham Pujari, Sagar Shenoy, Sayan Saha and all of our seniors who have helped us all throughout our journey and for laying a solid foundation for the team.
We are immensely grateful to our faculty advisor Gururaj Lalagi Sir, who stood by us and was always there for us. He was a great source of motivation and always encouraged us to give it our best. We would also like to thank all of our Professors, who have been a great source of inspiration and motivation and have always been there by our side. They motivated us to apply our classroom knowledge to the real world and truly understand engineering.
The team wouldn’t be where it is today without Dr. Raji George, Head of the Department, Mechanical Engineering, Ramaiah Institute of Technology, who always agreed to all of our demands and secured the funding for our team. He always kept us on our toes and made sure that we gave it our best. The team sincerely thanks him for all of his help, support and encouragement.
Finally, we would like to thank Dr. N.V.R. Naidu, Principal, Ramaiah Institute of Technology and the entire management of Ramaiah Institute of Technology for their constant help and support over the years. The team wouldn’t have existed if it were not for them. We hope that we have made our institute proud.
The team hopes to perform even better in the following years, continuing with the same passion and the same dream of winning the SAE Aero Design competition.
