The US Army is getting hoverbikes:
Malloy Aeronautics, a UK-based company, has been slowly and publicly developing a hoverbike over the last few years — it even used Kickstarter to raise funds. But it looks like the project is now headed in a new direction, because the US Department of Defense just announced a deal with Malloy to develop the vehicle for the US Army.
The DoD is interested in the technology for a few reasons. For one, it's safe. The hoverbike's rotors are guarded so they won't tear into humans and other objects. It's also a cheaper option than, say, a helicopter. And it's more manoeuvrable in tight spaces, with options to operate it autonomously or with a human pilot.

Developers of the Hoverbike told Reuters that they consider it ideal for search and rescue or cargo delivery missions. It could also be used for surveillance — plans for the full-scale version include an attachable humanoid figure with a head-mounted camera.
The first step in the deal will be to build a functioning full-scale model, and from there the DoD will reportedly design military-grade prototypes. In the meantime, Malloy Aeronautics will continue to make scale models while developing a commercial version of the Hoverbike

Make in India: Mahindra Group bags multi-million dollar aerospace deal with Airbus

In a boost to prime minister Narendra Modi's Make in India initiative, Airbus Group announced to award aero-components production contract to Mahindra Group

The contract has been awarded to Mahindra Group subsidiary, Mahindra Aerospace by an Airbus Group company, Premium AEROTEC of Germany.

"The multi-year contract envisages the manufacture and supply by Mahindra of a variety of metallic components that will be fitted into several Airbus aircraft programs as part of assemblies produced by Premium AEROTEC," said a release from the company. The release added that Mahindra Aerospace's deliverables under this contract will be in excess of a million parts per annum.

The parts will be produced at the new Mahindra Aerostructures facility located at Narsapura, near Bengaluru, India. Deliveries to Premium AEROTEC's facilities in Germany are scheduled to commence this year, release further said.

Announcing the contract award during the 2015 Paris Air Show at Le Bourget, senior representatives of the Airbus and Mahindra groups mentioned that this contract is aligned with the Indian Government's 'Make in India' initiative and validates the two Groups' commitment to accelerate India's participation in the global aerospace industry while simultaneously creating high-growth opportunities within India's burgeoning aerospace and defense eco-system.

Required Skills:
· Basic knowledge and understanding of Gas Turbine engines, systems & exposure to core engine parts.
· Basic experience on maintenance of Aircraft & Engines
· Should be able to read and interpret the Engineering drawings/Blue prints.
· Should be able to read and understand the repair/maintenance procedures.

Additional Skills:
· For those who have prior experience on S1000D, ATA 100, iSpec 2200 Specifications, SGML, AECMA Simplified English, Interpretation of Engineering Drawing, Epic Editor would be an added advantage.
Desired Candidate Profile:
· To write new maintenance procedures and/or revision of existing procedures for the engine manuals in accordance with the technical specifications provided by the customer and using customer specific authoring tools.
