Panel Board :- A panel board, also known as an electrical panel or distribution board, is a crucial component in the electrical system of a building. It serves as a central distribution point for electrical power, dividing it into various circuits to supply electricity to different areas or devices within the structure. Panel boards play a key role in managing and controlling the flow of electricity, ensuring safety and efficient distribution.

Key components of a typical panel board include:

Main Breaker or Main Switch: This is the main disconnect switch that controls the power supply to the entire panel. It allows you to turn off the electricity to the entire building.

Circuit Breakers: These are switches that automatically interrupt electrical flow in the event of a fault, such as an overload or short circuit. Each circuit in the building is typically protected by its own circuit breaker.

Bus Bars: These are conductive bars or strips that distribute electrical power to the individual circuit breakers. There are typically two bus bars in a panel board, one for the hot wire (live) and one for the neutral wire.

Neutral Bar: This is a terminal block where all the neutral wires from the various circuits are connected. The neutral wire carries the current back to the source, typically the transformer.

Ground Bar: Similar to the neutral bar, the ground bar is a terminal block for connecting the ground wires from various circuits. The ground wire is a safety feature that provides a path for fault currents to safely dissipate into the ground.

Door or Cover: Panel boards are usually enclosed with a door or cover for safety reasons. The cover protects individuals from coming into contact with live electrical components inside the panel.

Panel boards are labeled to indicate the circuits they control, and it's important for homeowners and electrical professionals to understand how to safely operate and maintain them. Additionally, compliance with electrical codes and regulations is crucial for the proper installation and use of panel boards to ensure electrical safety within a building.
