Bengaluru homeowners, a major update is here!
The Karnataka Urban Development Department has proposed significant changes to the city’s Master Plan (RMP 2015) that will make small-plot construction easier and more affordable.
Under this draft, the government plans to:
✅ Relax setback rules for compact sites
✅ Reduce parking requirements for smaller homes
✅ Ease basement regulations, making approvals simpler

These changes especially benefit homeowners with 30×40 (or similar) plots, helping them utilise space more efficiently and reduce construction hassles.
However—safety is still non-negotiable.
Even with flexible rules, every building must strictly comply with NBC 2016 fire and life-safety standards, ensuring long-term structural safety and legal security.
