Yellow Maize or Yellow Corn is the most

widely grown crop in India. Like many other regions, it is consumed as a vegetable although it is a grain crop. Maize Uses:

Maize has a wide variety of uses that ranges from both human to industrial. Maize is used as a livestock, forage or silage for animals. Humans eat maize or corn in the form of popcorn, porridge, beverage, etc. The yellow corn or yellow maize grains are rich in vitamins A, C and E, carbohydrates, and essential minerals, and contain 9% protein. They are also rich in dietary fiber and calories which are a good source of energy. All parts of the crop can be used for food and non-food products. In industrialized countries, Maize or Corn is largely used as livestock feed maize as there is protein in feed corn and as a raw material for industrial products. Feeding pigs corn only, they grow fast and become fat. Hence, feed maize for pigs is used widely by commercial hog growers in piggery farms. On crushing of maize, crude corn oil is obtained. After properly being refined it is suitable for human consumption. After expelling oil from dry maize germs, the residue is Corn Oil cake. As it has a substantial amount of fat & protein, it is used as a major ingredient in the cattle feed industry. In terms of industrial usage, the grains of the maize are used in the transformation of plastics and fabrics. Ethanol, produced from maize, is being used as an additive in gas to prevent pollution levels and reduce the use of petroleum.

A noteworthy contribution to the field of medicine, the IP/BP/USP grade Anhydrous Dextrose is used in intravenous injections vital for preventing dehydration. In many critical conditions, especially during comas, operations, excessive blood loss due to injuries, wherever oral administration is not possible and is very useful in cases of Diarrhea & Heat strokes.
Dextrose 5%, 10% or 20% helps restore fluid energy equilibrium while a normal saline solution is for prompt compensation of primary water electrolyte deprivation.
Dextrose Anhydrous is also widely used as a major ingredient in the oral rehydration salt (ORS) segment. Being a natural sugar, it immediately cures a person of dehydration, sugar drop and giddiness.
In addition to IP/BP/USP test parameters, each and every lot of Anhydrous Dextrose manufactured by Maize Products is tested for filtration and to check for invisible impurities of solution. Random checks are also carried out for HMF, pyrogens and HPLC analysis.

Native Maize Starch

Native Maize Starch is a cereal starch, which has a low ash and protein content. It does not thin down during the process of sizing, whereas tapioca starch breaks down substantially on cooking. This results in an uneven pick up on the yarn. Unlike Tamarind Kernel Powder, which requires steeping and long cooking time, Maize Starch is transformed into a smooth paste within an hour or in even lesser time under pressure-cooking.

The uniform viscosity, from lot to lot, ensures uniform pick up and pe*******on into the interstices of yarn to ensure good weaving performance. As foaming is usually associated with high pH, it is not necessary to add any of the antifoaming agents while working with maize starch, as the pH of Maize Starch paste is always maintained in the neutral range. In addition to these advantages, the starch is easily removed during the normal process of de-sizing.

INDIAN YELLOW MAIZE OR YELLOW CORN
it is used for animal feed
1.Oil Cake
After expelling oil from dry maize germs, the residue is Corn Oil cake. As it has a substantial amount of fat & protein, it is used as a major ingredient in the cattle feed industry.
Applications:
Cattle breeding industry
2.Corn Fibre
The skin of the maize grain is corn fiber. It is expelled in wet condition during the process of steeping after separating fat, oil, protein, etc from the grain. Wet Bran or wet fiber is used as a cattle feed as it has some residual properties of Corn Oil Cakes.
This fiber, when dried by a dryer or sun dried, is dry fiber. Due to its property, dry fiber is used in the manufacturing of Oil cakes.
Applications:
Cattle breeding & Oil Cake manufacturing industry.
3.Corn Gluten Meal
Corn Gluten Meal is prepared by re-centrifugation, filtering and drying of gluten slurry obtained in starch gluten separation in the mill.
It has a high protein, high nutrient density, high energy ingredient consisting of insoluble protein in combination with minimal quantity of starch and fiber fractions. This high protein concentrate is commonly provided at minimum 62% protein. Of all the grain commonly used in Live Stock & Poultry, Corn is by far the most important. Corn is palatable, readily digested by human and Monogastric and ruminant animals and is one of the best source of Metabolizeable Energy (ME) among the Grains.
Feeding requirement of Poultry are characterized by great variability in needs according to class of birds being fed. (Chickens, Broiler, Laying hens etc.) Pigments to produce desired colour of skin and egg yolk is another special feature of poultry feeds. Feed stuff from corn wet milling have an important place in fulfilling these requirements. Most heavily used feed stuff is CGM. It is high in nutrient density and energy value, a good source of Vitamins and Minerals, high in methionine and efficient source of Xanthophylls, which are valued for their skin and yoke pigmentation
Applications:
Poultry feed, Fish feed

INDIAN YELLOW MAIZE OR YELLOW CORN
Seasons/Availability
Yellow corn is available year-round.
Current Facts
Corn, scientific name Zea mays and known outside of English languages as simply maize, is a member of the grass family Gramineae. It is technically classified as a grain crop, though when harvested young it is treated as a vegetable. Its stalks produce a cob of seeds, which are better known as the kernels, though by botanical definition they are the individual fruits of the plant. Yellow corn is just one cultivar among thousands of corn varieties, heirloom, hybrid or genetically modified. Yellow corn is an evolutionary mutation of white corn. Most yellow corn in the commercial marketplace is a hybrid variety developed in the 20th century. The first hybrid yellow sweet corn, 'Redgreen' was released by the Connecticut Agricultural Experimental program in 1924.
Description/Taste
Yellow corn is a variety of sweet corn. Its ears are wrapped in tightly bound lime hued husks with silks and a tassel that extend out from the tip. The yellow kernels are packed in tight almost uniform rows. A single ear of corn can contain up to 400 kernels. Freshly harvested yellow corn at its peak ripeness is sweet, offering flavors of almond and sugar, the kernels so succulent, the skin pops as you bite into it. As the corn matures, the kernels lose their milky consistency giving way to a starchy and doughy consistency. At this point, the corn is considered a grain crop and is best suited for processing or feedstock.
Nutritional Value
Yellow corn is a significant resource of Vitamin A. As corn kernels mutated from white to yellow, they acquired chemicals called cartenoids. Of these cartenoids is beta carotene, which produces Vitamin A. Very little attention has been emphasized on yellow corn's significant beta carotene levels until the early 21st Century. Yellow corn, easy to grow in developing regions of Africa and Latin America, where corn is heavily relied upon as a food source, could actually keep millions of children from going blind. Yellow corn is now being bred to have at least 10 times higher the amount of beta carotene than average sweet corn varieties.
Applications
The less sweet corn is cooked, the better the flavor and texture. Yellow corn can be roasted, grilled, blanched, steamed, or pureed. Its bright and sweet flavors lend well to pastas and salads. It pairs well with tomatoes, basil cilantro, lobster, pork, chiles, truffles, shelling beans, cream, nutty cheeses, peas, summer squashes, fennel, citrus and scallops. Yellow corn is dried and ground into flour for baked goods, tortillas, cereals and used as a crust/crisping agent for dishes both savory and sweet. Corn is also used for oil, as a sweetener in foods and beverages and as a base for beverage alcohol
