Thermax Babcock & Wilcox Energy Solutions ( ) has successfully commissioned a 1 x 47 TPH AFBC boiler for a grain-based ethanol distillery in South India.

This AFBC solution provides value beyond steam generation, particularly at a time when distilleries face challenges such as fuel volatility, process continuity, and stricter environmental expectations. The atmospheric fluidised bed combustion environment supports effective management of SOx and NOx emissions through inherently lower operating temperatures and the use of limestone within the bed. Built for fuel adaptability, the boiler can efficiently fire a range of biomasses, including rice husk, groundnut shell, and high-alkali sawdust, along with coal. This enables the plant to improve fuel resilience, advance low-carbon operations, and unlock a tangible cost advantage through alternative fuel utilisation.

With a global footprint of over 300 installations, TBWES AFBC boilers represent the industry benchmark for engineering excellence and manufacturing quality.

Thermax shares the successful commissioning of a biomass fired reciprocating grate based thermal oil heater of 20 lakh kcal/hr for a leading global glove manufacturer in Sri Lanka.

A first-of-a-kind installation, commissioned on rubber wood chips, a process waste, to meet the customer's heat generation requirement of 20 lakh kcal/hr. Built on the principle of fuel flexibility, Thermax's biomass solutions are engineered to perform reliably across a wide range of biomass fuels – giving industries the freedom to leverage locally available energy sources while consistently delivering the highest standards of efficiency and reliability.

With the biomass fired reciprocating grate based thermal oil heater, the customer benefits from increased heat generation capacity, improved operational efficiency, and a reduced carbon footprint, while leveraging their process waste for energy.
