✅ Checklist for Column Reinforcement Binding

🔧 1. General Preparations

[ ] Approved construction drawing available on site.

[ ] Bar Bending Schedule (BBS) verified.

[ ] All rebars are free from rust, oil, paint, or any other impurities.

[ ] Bar sizes and types match the drawing (Fe500/Fe550 etc).

[ ] Proper scaffolding or working platform arranged for height work.

📏 2. Vertical (Main) Bars

[ ] Diameter and number of vertical bars as per drawing.

[ ] Clear cover maintained (usually 40 mm for column).

[ ] Vertical bars are plumb (straight) and securely tied.

[ ] Proper lap length provided (as per structural drawing or IS 456:2000).

[ ] Laps are staggered, not all at one height.

🔗 3. Lateral Ties (Stirrups/Helical)

[ ] Correct stirrup size and spacing as per drawing.

[ ] Ties bent at 135° hook angle and tightly bound.

[ ] Stirrups are perpendicular and properly spaced.

[ ] Extra ties provided at lap zones or junctions.

[ ] 16 or 18 gauge wire used.

[ ] All junctions tightly tied to avoid displacement during concreting.

[ ] No loose ties; trimmed ends not projecting dangerously.

[ ] Concrete/plastic cover blocks used (not stone or wood).

[ ] Cover blocks of correct thickness (usually 40mm for column).

[ ] Adequate number of cover blocks on all sides and bottom.

1. Pre‑work Planning & Hazard Awareness

Identify all potential hazards: elevated work zones, open edges, slippery surfaces beneath tanks.

Ensure your team knows exactly where risks lie and how to avoid them before climbing.

2. Secure Access & Egress

Use stable, well‑anchored ladders or scaffolding.

Check for faults: loose rungs, unstable footing, faulty rails.

Avoid improvisation—never use makeshift supports.

3. Harness & Fall-Arrest Systems

Properly inspect full-body harnesses, anchor connectors, and lanyards.

Demonstrates correct wearing and removal—don’t skip any step!

4. Team Communication & Supervision

Keep a spotter or buddy on the ground for assistance and emergency response.

Maintain clear radio or verbal contact at all times.

5. Safe Work Practices at Height

Always face the structure when ascending/descending.

Maintain three points of contact.

Keep tools tethered to prevent them falling on persons below.
