The Bioengineering laboratory performs interdisciplinary research and education relevant to biology with engineering applications. The combination of Microbiology, Biosensors & Bioelectronics is particularly promising and offers very attractive prospects for emerging research. Our research activities are focused on the novel application of biosensor technology for rapid

and sensitive detection of microbial endotoxin contamination in fluid and clinically applicable compounds from the lysate of the Indian Horseshoe crab. We are also working on environmental beneficiation and heavy metal recovery through bioleaching by native bacterial strains.
