Hot Rolled coil finishing forms the last section of Hot Strip Mill, where the coils are rolled in the
2000 mm wide mill and are further subjected to shearing and slitting process to obtain sheets and
coils (slit coils) of desired and predetermined sizes as per customer's demands. Telco, Cimmco, IQL, tube makers, Defence etc. The material is
supplied as per B.I.S specification and is tested and ins
pected before despatch. EQUIPMENTS:
The hot rolled coils conveyor comprises horizontal and inclined section of chain conveyor a lifting
and Swivelling table, a coil grouping mechanism. The conveyor speed varies from 0.3 to 0.9 m/sec. Overhead Cranes of 50/10T hoisting capacity equipped with tongs, remove the hot rolled coils from
the conveyor to storage yard where they are piled in vertical position. Here the coils are cooled down
to ambient temperature. Single tongs lifting capacity varies from 16 to 20 T whereas double coil
lifting tong capacity is 35T. The storage area in LM Bay is 1200M2. It is serviced by 6 cranes. Facilities:
Coil cutting at Unit No. 1 &2 is carried out according to PPC programmed order, steel grade, coil
number, coil weight, sheet and plate size, standard on sheet and plate supply, pack weight, No. of
packs in a Van, No. of sheets in a pack, sheet or plate length, and width tolerance shall be indicated
in the programme. There are two shearing line and one slitting line provided in HRCF section. The range of product of
these lines and capacities are mentioned below:
There is one off gauge shearing line which is included for cutting the rejected sheets which come
from the two shearing lines. SALIENT FEATURES :
Hot rolled Coil finishing is having some special features which help in improving the quantity and
operation of the individual shearing and slitting lines. Each line is equipped with X-ray thickness
gauge which helps in sorting out non-standard sheets from standard sheets. Non standard material is
further cut into different sizes of 1.5-10 mm thickness and 1.5-4m length in off gauge shearing line. Another special feature of finishing line is that thin gauge shearing lines are having provisions for
