The last of the six nameboards for cottage named after the Himalayan bird, Koklass that was a part of this project by Vedara Himayalan Boutique Retreat at Himachal Pradesh in India assigned to Blue Bloom. Koklass belongs to the pheasant family of birds and is a shy moody bird.

It has been not just a beautiful project in terms of painting these but also in terms of uplifting me, as a person. As i learnt about each bird that is found the region, the knowledge transformed my anxieties and calmed me. I turned towards nature which is ever abundantly loving and giving. I haven't travelled to the region for this project, yet I feel a deep connection with the space, the higher meaning of life and it has calmed and silenced me, given me a peace which was very crucial for the tumultuous phase in my life that I was going thru. Art has its ways and nature gave that perspective.

I am grateful to Deepika Sachdeva ( you're not on Instagram Deepika) and Vedara Retreat for giving me this opportunity.
Hopefully I have been able to justify this project.

Magpie Retreat nameboard for the next Cottage at Vedara Himayalan Boutique Retreat in Himachal.

Magpie another bird that is sighted in this area. Mahogany Wood plank size 18" x10" for the nameboards, stained and hand-painted.

Himalayan Monal is the State Bird of Himachal Pradesh in India. This colourful bird is of the pheasant family and has similar feathers like a peacock.

The Vedara Retreat in Himachal has a Cottage named after this special one.

Each nameboard is 18"*10" in Mahogany wood, stained and hand-painted.

Himalayan Paradise Flycatcher on the 3rd Cottage Name board.

This Flycatcher is so special. It's such a small bird about 8" in height yet the tail itself is about 12" long from base to end. The chirping is so melodious. When a Flycatcher is flying over your head into the pine forests, you can see the beautiful tail sway like a scarf swirling.

These custom nameboards are very special and they came at the right time in my life. I am filled with gratitude.

6 Cottage Nameboards for Vedara Retreat in Himachal Pradesh. Got this amazing opportunity to create these 18"x10" size Mahogany wood name boards.

Posting them as I keep creating each. This one is called Bulbul Nest. Bulbul a bird which is commonly found perched in the Himalayan woods in the vicinity of the Retreat. As per the customer's requests.

Again nostalgia brought back memories of a character that created a hook for us as children. Reminds me of my first international travel by Air India, there was Maharaja Mascot welcoming me.

The Collection of Coasters is hand painted and ready for pickup. This Coaster set comes in a gift box with a handmade gift tag and information card about Maharaja. Ideal for gifting.
This set has images of Maharaja in different famous airports that Air India flew from India directly to.

The information about Maharaja, as picked from Wiki is below:

Origin: Conceived in 1946 in pre-independence India to give the airline a "human face".

Creators: Bobby Kooka and Umesh Rao (from J. Walter Thompson).

Persona: He was designed as a "charming, mischievous" globetrotter, often depicted on travel posters exploring cities worldwide.

Evolution: While he faded in popularity during the airline's financial trouble in the 2000s, the Tata group has kept him as part of the airline's brand identity.

A new customised created from an illustration, submitted by client, of Professor Shonku & his Robot called Robu and (my version) of the cat Newton. Hope I have done some justice to the illustration on this Tote.

The illustration represents Satyajit Ray's characters of his series of Books.
"Professor Shonku" is a collection of nine science fiction short stories by Ray, featuring the fictional scientist-inventor Professor Shonku. The collection was first published in 1965 by Calcutta publisher NewScript Publications.
