A Proud Family Moment: Dr. Kalam's Legacy of Encouraging Education

எங்கள் அன்பு மாமி, APJM நஜீமா மரைக்காயர் அவர்கள், 1999-2003 காலகட்டத்தில் *திருக்குரானில் அறிவியல் கூறுகள் " என்ற தலைப்பில் பி.எச்.டி. (Ph.D.) முடித்தார்கள். எங்கள் குடும்பத்திற்கு பெருமை சேர்த்த இந்த மிக்க சிறப்பான தருணத்தில், இந்திய ஜனாதிபதியாக பொறுப்பேற்ற பிறகு, டாக்டர் கலாம் அவர்களே *ஹவுஸ் ஆஃப் கலாமில்* வந்து அவர்களின் ஆய்வுக்கட்டுரையை வெளியிட்டார்.

டாக்டர் கலாம் அவர்கள் கல்வியின் சக்தியில் உறுதியாக நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருந்தார், குறிப்பாக பெண்களுக்கான கல்வியில். பெண்களை கல்வியால் நலமுடனும், ஆற்றலுடனும் ஆக்கினால், அவர்களின் குடும்பமே உயர்வடையும் என்றும், அடுத்த தலைமுறை கல்வியால் சிறந்த வாழ்க்கை முறையை அடைவார்கள் என்றும் அவர் பலமுறை கூறியுள்ளார்.

பணமோ அல்லது வேலைக்கான பரிந்துரையோ அளிப்பதற்குப் பதிலாக, குடும்ப உறுப்பினர்கள் உயர்ந்த கல்வியை அடைய வழிவகை செய்வதில் அவர் கவனம் செலுத்தினார். உண்மையான ஆற்றல் கல்வியின் மூலம் கிடைக்கும், அதுதான் நிலையான மற்றும் நிறைவேற்றிய வாழ்க்கைக்கு வழிவகுக்கும் என்று அவர் உறுதியாய்க் கூறினார். அவரின் கனவு எங்களை என்றும் ஊக்குவிக்கிறது, அவரது பாரம்பரியத்தை தொடர்வதில் நான் பெருமைப்படுகிறேன்.

Our beloved aunt, APJM Nazeema Markayar, completed her Ph.D. on *Thirukuralin Ariviyal Kurukal* between 1999-2003. In a moment of immense pride for our family, after becoming the President, Dr. Kalam himself visited the House of Kalam and released her thesis, marking a significant milestone in our family’s journey in education.

Dr. Kalam always believed in the power of education, especially for women. He strongly advocated that educating a woman uplifts not only the individual but the entire family. He believed that empowering women with knowledge would ensure that the next generation is equipped with the education necessary to lead a life of dignity and success.

Instead of giving money or making job recommendations, Dr. Kalam focused on helping family members achieve the highest levels of education. He firmly believed that true empowerment comes through education, and that’s what leads to a stable, fulfilling life. His vision has always inspired us, and I am honored to continue this legacy.

I'm thrilled to share that I had the incredible opportunity to speak at the 2nd Annual International Tamil Information Technology Research Conference yesterday, June 29th, 2024, at the Chennai Trade Centre.

As APJMJ Sheik Dawood, Director of AI and Digital Solutions of Kryptos info systems and Co-Founder of the APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation, it was my honor to address over 600 college students on the topic "Making Yourself Marketable as an Engineering College Student."

The energy in the room was palpable, and I was inspired by the enthusiasm and engagement of the young minds present. We discussed key strategies for students to stand out in today's competitive job market, emphasizing the importance of practical skills, continuous learning, and personal branding.

I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the organizers for this wonderful platform and to all the students who participated. Your questions and insights made the session truly interactive and rewarding.

To all the students who attended: remember, your journey is just beginning. Keep pushing boundaries, stay curious, and never stop learning. The future of technology in Tamil Nadu and beyond is in your capable hands!

We have made significant achievements in the last fifty years in food production, health sector, higher education, media and mass communication, industrial infrastructure, information technology, science and technology and defence. Our nation is endowed with natural resources, vibrant people and traditional value system. In spite of these resources, a number of our people are below the poverty line, undernourished and lack primary education…Along with speedy development aimed at elimination of poverty and unemployment, national security has to be recognized by every Indian as a national priority. Indeed, making India strong and self-reliant—economically, socially and militarily—is our foremost duty to our motherland and to us and to our future generations.
