We have a start-up mentor and partner, STAR Labs - the company that enforces that "Space is for everyone" and immensely contributes to developing the field of rocketry in India. On one hand, they focus on educating the people. While on the other hand, they work on futuristic rocketry projects.

Team ABHYUDAY signed an MoU with STAR Labs and underwent training and internship to learn the basics of rockets. In the internship, Our team learned OpenRocket, simulation of avionics which is necessary for the rocket's operation, and the design and structural testing of the sample rocket model in Solidworks.

The internship gave a strong conceptual foundation which helped us design a sounding rocket for the SPACEPORT AMERICA CUP competition.

We are immensely thankful to STAR Lab for their support and guidance.

This time, in our last team introduction, we have the Payload vertical.

This vertical includes all the backyard science nerds researching a viable payload for our rocket. The payload should be a minimum of 4kg and can include any scientifically useful experiment that can be done at varying acceleration due to gravity experienced by the rocket as it rises to 3km.

Stay tuned with us for some exciting stuff coming up this week!

Hey there! again!
This week introducing Avionics & Recovery vertical.

Avionics vertical deals with the design and assembly of the electronics on board, which involves telemetry components, GPS trackers, flight computers, etc. They also control the parachute ejection. Since ejection timing must be precise we use two altimeters for redundancy.

The recovery is one of the most important verticals of the project as it is responsible for the safe touchdown of the rocket after it reaches its maximum height. We plan on using a dual deployment technique- using a drogue and the main parachute- for our mission.

Last vertical, on next Thursday!
Stay tuned.

In the series of team introductions, this time we have Airframe & Propulsion.

The Airframe and the Propulsion verticals work closely together and form the biggest hands of Team Abhyuday.

Airframe vertical deals with the design and manufacturing of the rocket body. They analyse the forces on the entire structure, check drag and heat flow of the components to obtain optimum performance.

The Propulsion vertical is active in the research and development of a liquid rocket engine.
While for the SA Cup competiton, being a first-time team, as per IREC rules we are aiming to build a rocket that uses a COTS (commercial off-the-shelf) solid rocket motor in 10000 ft. AGL (above ground level) category chosen according to our mission requirements.

Further verticles, on next Thursday!
Stay tuned.

Let's get started with the introductions of the team verticals.
.

First up is the MANAGEMENT VERTICAL, responsible for a bunch of stuff, everything other than the engineering and research aspect.

They prepare the budget, manage finances, raise funds, manage public and industry relations, work on social media, provide content and do the designs, arrange meetings and co-ordinate among various teams for the smooth functioning of the project.
Basically, act as the backbone for the technical minds!

Further verticles, on next Thursday!
Stay tuned.

Formed initially as a Student Innovation project in Horizon club, we have turned into 25 solid rocketry enthusiasts in two years. Our team is divided into six verticals, and we have two experienced professors and professionals as our mentors. Currently, we are a fully multidisciplinary group of people with people from 6 branches, comprising of undergrads, dual degree and a PhD. This year, we recruited seven enthusiastic freshies in our team to expand the idea even further.

Stay tuned as we delve deeper into what each team does next week!πŸš€πŸš€πŸ”₯πŸ”₯

IIT Madras rocketry team - Team Abhyuday πŸ”₯

Originally proposed as a Student Innovation project in Horizon Club, we worked steadily in the pipeline for a year as team Aether.

We have now turned into a strong team of 25+ rocketry enthusiasts, harboring the aim of participating in the Spaceport America Cup 2022 edition- and be the first IIT to do so!

We hope to provide a place to all the rocket science enthusiasts in Insti and make our mark in inculcating the culture of model rocketry in the entire country!

Build, Burn, Blastoff!πŸ’₯
