Tonight’s sky is doing something worth stepping outside for.

The Moon and Jupiter are in conjunction — appearing side by side, with the twin stars Castor and Pollux nearby.

Just look for the Moon after sunset — to the left of it, you’ll spot a bright “star” shining close by. That’s Jupiter!

Visible all evening until around midnight.
No telescope needed. No dark sky required. Just step outside.

What if we photographed every full Moon in 2026 using the exact same setup and compared their sizes over time?

Since the Moon’s orbit isn’t perfectly circular, its apparent size changes depending on whether it’s at perigee (closest to Earth) or apogee (farthest from Earth). By December, we’ll have a clear visual comparison.

How to participate:
• Use the exact same setup every month (no changes)
• No editing. Convert RAW to JPG without adjustments
• No standalone mobile shots (phone + telescope/binocular setup is fine if consistent)
• Share these details with your image on our forums:
– Telescope / Lens
– Camera
– Focal length
– Date

Lunar Eclipse Update – Chennai

will witness only the final partial phase of today’s lunar eclipse as the Moon rises around 6:17 PM IST. Look Easy after sunset.

There will be no deep red “blood moon”. That occurs only during a total lunar eclipse.

Most of the Moon will remain bright, with a subtle shadow visible. Any slight reddish tint near the horizon is a normal atmospheric effect seen during moonrise on any day:)

Visible from October to April from most locations (read-dark skies). Look west after sunset till about 11pm-1230am to spot them. You can see 6–7 stars with the naked eye, but with binoculars or a small telescope, dozens appear!
