Team Anveshak is a group of highly enthusiastic engineers who have come together in a student lab known as Centre For Innovation to represent Indian Institute of Technology, Madras in the University Rover Challenge. University Rover Challenge is a premier robotics competition held in Utah, USA for college teams, by the Mars Society - an organization aimed at promoting human exploration and settlem
ent of Mars. College students battle it out to design and manufacture the best mars rovers, capable of working alongside astronauts on the red planet. As a part of the challenge, the rover is expected to perform several tasks involving traversing over an uneven terrain autonomously, performing soil analysis and servicing equipment which test the rover’s mechanical and electrical capabilities. Team Anveshak is built of 4 sub-teams: Electronics and Software, Manipulator, Chassis and Suspension and Science team. Working in the fields of Mechanisms and their manufacturing, Geology, Power systems, Control systems and Communications, the team is composed of engineering students from various different disciplines, sharing a common aspiration of making a functional mars rover. After proving its mettle at Robocon several times between 2009 and 2014 and ASME in 2015 the team from CFI seeks glory at URC, an international platform for competitive robotics. On a broader perspective, the team intends to expand its architecture towards virtual robotics.
