Avishkar Hyperloop - IIT Madras

This year's contest focuses on one key aspect - speed. The fastest pod wins! Simple.

"Short of figuring out real teleportation, which would of course be awesome (someone please do this), the only option for super-fast travel is to build a tube over or under the ground that contains a special environment." - this is what Elon Musk has to say about his brainchild- the Hyperloop. To increase awareness and enthusiasm about Hyperloop, SpaceX sponsors the Hyperloop Pod Competition, an incentive prize competition where a number of student and non-student teams are participating to design and build a subscale prototype transport vehicle to demonstrate technical feasibility of various aspects of the Hyperloop concept. Team Avishkar, a group of highly enthusiastic engineering students from IIT Madras, is spearheading the college's attempt at this competition. We work together in IIT Madras's student lab - Centre for Innovation (abbreviated CFI)- with the common goal of making the best Hyperloop pod ever and helping humanity move one step closer to achieving an incredible new form of transport. Our preliminary design has been accepted and we have successfully cleared the first stage of the competition! We hope to keep moving forward and achieve success in contributing to this new form of transport!

From getting our pod ready to meeting teams from across the world, Veendam gave us memories, challenges, friendships, and a whole lot of learning.

We came here to compete, but left with so much more to take back home.

Proud to have represented IIT Madras and India on the global stage. 🇮🇳

So far at EHW 2026

The European Hyperloop Week journey has begun! Here’s what we’ve been working on so far:

🔹 Track Assembly — Assembling the track and preparing it for the challenges ahead.

🔹 SER Presentation — Presenting our vision for interport logistics and exploring how hyperloop can contribute towards faster, efficient, and sustainable transportation networks.

🔹 Technical Research Presentation — Showcasing our research on low-pressure boiling and our proposed solutions for thermal management in hyperloop systems.

🔹 Engineering Design Presentation — Sharing the engineering decisions, design approach, and systems developed behind Avishkar Hyperloop.

From months of designing, testing, and refining our pod to finally presenting it on an international platform, every step has been a valuable learning experience.

Team Avishkar Hyperloop had the privilege of presenting and interacting with Mr. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, along with Prof.V. Kamakoti at the Delta Expo, IIT Madras. Alongside the institute’s leadership, it was a great opportunity for our team to showcase our work and exchange ideas. Moments like these highlight how innovation and collaboration can create meaningful impact.

GHC Day 4
An unforgettable finale to GHC 2.0. Team Avishkar emerged as Pod Demonstration Champions, showcasing the strength of our design, ex*****on, and teamwork. Adding to the momentum, we secured Runner-Up in the InnoQuest Stationing & Boarding category, validating our approach to real-world Hyperloop operations. As GHC comes to an end, we leave with recognition, learnings, and stronger conviction to push boundaries even further.
