IGS India National Conference | Geosynthetics in Water Resources & Hydraulic
Structures – 30-31 July 2026
The two-day National Conference on “Geosynthetics in Water Resources and Hydraulic
Structures”, organised by IGS India, commenced today at the IGS India Office,
Chanakyapuri, New Delhi.
The conference was inaugurated by Shri Manish Gupta, Director, CSMRS, who graced
the occasion as Guest of Honour and highlighted the importance of innovative and
sustainable solutions for strengthening India’s water and hydraulic infrastructure.
Around 60 participants from Government organisations, PSUs, academia, research
institutions and industry are participating, including representatives from CWC, NTPC,
NHPC, THDC, Druk Green Power Corporation (Bhutan), CSMRS, CSIR, IITs, DTU,
WAPCOS, L&T, AFCONS, CARPI, Meghaplast, Geosynthetics Testing Services Private
Limited and other leading organisations.
The programme features 13 high-quality technical papers and expert presentations,
commencing with a keynote address by Dr. R. Chitra, Former Director, CSMRS and
Immediate Past Vice President, IGS India.
The strong participation, including international representation from Bhutan, reflects the
growing importance of geosynthetics in delivering safe, sustainable, durable and
climate-resilient infrastructure.
