Balcony solar sounds perfect for apartments. But there’s one big problem. 🏢☀️

For a long time, our team has been working on balcony solar: flexible solar panels with a portable inverter that anyone can set up on their balcony. No rooftop needed.

The catch?
💸 The system is still expensive
⚡ It produces fewer units than a rooftop system
⏳ Payback takes 10 to 15 years, versus around 6 years for a traditional rooftop solar system

We’re working to bring that payback period down, and we want your ideas. 💡

How would you make balcony solar worth it? Drop your suggestions in the comments 👇

You chose your solar panels carefully. But did you check your inverter? 🤔

Over 15 years, most solar problems come from the inverter, not the panels. A US NREL survey found about 43% of solar maintenance calls were inverter faults, while panels caused only around 2%.

So when you buy solar, the inverter deserves as much attention as the panel:
1️⃣ Who actually manufactures it?
2️⃣ How long has the brand been in India?
3️⃣ Who will service it when it fails in year 7?

We ranked the inverter brands most likely to outlast your warranty. Link in bio. 📌

Your solar panel has an ALMM list. Your inverter doesn’t. ⚠️

For solar panels, you can check whether the manufacturer and factory are government-approved. For inverters, there’s no such list. So many brands are rushing Chinese inverter models into India under their own label, to cash in while rooftop solar demand is booming.

But your inverter comes with a 10-year warranty. What happens if the brand disappears in year 2? 🤔

Before you buy, ask your installer three questions:
1️⃣ Who actually manufactures this inverter?
2️⃣ How long has this brand been selling in India?
3️⃣ Who will service it in year 7?

Save this before you get your next solar quote. 📌

A solar structure that looks like a train coach. 🚆☀️

This is the 14-foot elevated solar structure we built on the rooftop of Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Why so many cross braces on every leg?

Because this structure is NOT anchored into the roof slab. Instead, it’s anchored to the walls of the building. With no bolts going into the roof, the cross bracing is what keeps the whole structure rigid and stable against wind.

Every rooftop is different. A good solar structure is designed for the building, not copied from a catalogue.

We were asked to put automatic sprinklers on a 500 kW solar plant. We refused. 🚫💧

Sprinklers don’t remove dust, they push it down. It dries along the bottom edge of every panel, shades the lowest cells, and creates hot spots that literally burn your solar cells. Result: lower output, damaged panels, and a system that underperforms for years.

Convenient cleaning isn’t always safe cleaning. Save this before you install a sprinkler system on your solar panels. 🔖

We paid for A-grade solar panels. This is what we got. 😶

Cracked cells. A chipped cell placed on top of another cell. Defects that should never leave a factory.

When we asked the company for the EL test images of our panels, they refused.

So, solar industry, is this the right practice? 🤔

And to every buyer: even if your panels are brand new, check every single cell before you accept delivery.
✅ Cracks or broken cells
✅ Chipped or overlapping cells
✅ Burn marks or discoloured spots
✅ Anything trapped under the glass
✅ The EL report and flash test report for every panel

Save this before you buy solar. Share it with someone planning a rooftop installation. 🔁

Paying for A-grade solar panels? You might be getting B-grade. 👀

We were supplied panels sold as top quality. The test reports run to 300 pages, and they found foreign particles inside the laminate, cold soldering, and more.

Some manufacturers are selling substandard solar panels at A-grade prices, and most buyers never find out until their system underperforms.

Full video coming soon. We’ll reveal the companies, with the test reports as proof. Follow so you don’t miss it. 🔔

“Sir, your solar structure is rusting!” 😅 Here’s the truth about that red colour on our rooftop.

That’s red oxide primer. Our structure is 15 years old, and we painted it after small rust stains appeared around the nut and bolt points.

Here’s why solar structures rust:
🔩 Hot-dip galvanised iron has a zinc coating that protects it from rust for decades
✂️ But when the structure is cut or drilled on site, the bare iron inside gets exposed
🟤 That’s exactly where rust starts

The fix is simple: get your solar structure fully fabricated first, cut and drilled, and THEN sent for hot-dip galvanising. That way every edge and hole is zinc-coated.

Getting rooftop solar installed? Ask your installer: “Galvanising before or after fabrication?” 👇

Delhi’s free rooftop solar scheme: 1 lakh+ people have registered. But when will the panels actually go up? ☀️⏳

📋 Applications opened on 21 September
❌ Vendors are still not finalised
📁 The file is still waiting for final approval
📝 After approval, the tender process alone may take 1 to 1.5 months

The target is 2.3 lakh homes by March. In the year after the extra subsidy was added, about 17,000 Delhi homes installed solar.

Installing roughly 13 times that, in Delhi’s foggy, smoggy winter, in about three months? Watch the full reel and tell us: is this target realistic? 👇

Got rooftop solar but still getting an electricity bill? Here’s why. ☀️🧾

🔋 Extra summer units are banked on your bill and carried forward month to month
❄️ In winter, generation drops and those banked units get used up
📅 On March 31, leftover units are paid at a settlement rate much lower than what you pay per unit
💡 Fixed charges stay on your bill even with net metering

So a bigger system isn’t always better. Size it to your yearly consumption, not your summer bill.

Check your banked units before March. Save this and share it with every solar owner you know. 🙏
