proudly celebrates the distinguished journey of Shri Jagdamba Prasad G. Dobriyal, Executive Director & Chief, Exploration & Development Directorate, as he marks his superannuation after more than 36 years of dedicated service to India’s hydrocarbon exploration and development efforts.

A Geology postgraduate, Shri Dobriyal joined ONGC in 1990 and built an exceptional career spanning Mumbai, Sivasagar, Chennai, Kakinada, and Dehradun. From his early years in operations geology to leading some of ONGC’s most critical exploration and development functions, his career reflects a rare blend of scientific excellence, technical depth, and strategic leadership.

Over the decades, he made significant contributions across operations geology, basin interpretation, HPHT field development, deepwater and ultra-deepwater exploration, and exploration monitoring. His expertise played a pivotal role in advancing ONGC’s understanding of complex geological systems and unlocking new opportunities across frontier and mature basins alike.

During his long tenure in Chennai and later at Kakinada, Shri Dobriyal was closely associated with interpretation studies, HPHT field development initiatives, and deepwater projects, contributing to the strengthening of ONGC’s offshore exploration portfolio. His subsequent leadership roles at KDMIPE, GEOPIC, and the Basin Research Group further enhanced ONGC’s geoscientific capabilities and exploration strategy.

As Head of GEOPIC and later Chief of the Exploration & Development Directorate, he provided strategic direction to ONGC’s exploration and development activities, fostering innovation, scientific rigor, and collaboration across disciplines. Widely respected for his analytical approach, mentorship, and commitment to excellence, he helped shape the next generation of geoscientists and exploration leaders.

With every prospect evaluated, every basin interpreted, and every team mentored, Shri Dobriyal has left an enduring imprint on ONGC’s exploration legacy. His contributions will continue to inspire future generations working to strengthen India’s energy security.

proudly celebrates the extraordinary journey of Shri Rajesh Sharma, Executive Director, as he marks his superannuation, a milestone that reflects more than three and a half decades of dedication, perseverance, and leadership in advancing India’s energy security.

A Mechanical Engineer by training, Shri Sharma joined ONGC in 1989 and built a distinguished career across some of the organisation’s most demanding drilling assignments. From the offshore rig Sagar Gaurav in Mumbai Offshore to key leadership roles in Sivasagar, Ankleshwar, Ahmedabad, Agartala, Mehsana, and Mumbai, his professional journey exemplifies commitment to operational excellence and drilling innovation.

Over the decades, he served in a wide range of operational and managerial roles, including rig operations, contract management, drilling coordination, and field leadership. His experience across both onshore and offshore drilling environments helped strengthen ONGC’s drilling capabilities while fostering a culture of safety, efficiency, and teamwork.

Among his many notable achievements, Shri Sharma pioneered the successful drilling of ONGC’s first onshore horizontal well at Ahmedabad, marking a significant milestone in the Company’s drilling journey. He also successfully led the drilling and implementation of the first Cyclic Steam Stimulation (CSS) wells at Mehsana, contributing to enhanced hydrocarbon recovery through innovative drilling and production techniques. His excellence in rig operations was recognized with the prestigious Chairman’s Award for Best Operating Rig on two occasions, at Ahmedabad and Agartala.

During his long tenure in Mehsana, where he rose from Rig Manager to Head Drilling Services, Shri Sharma played a pivotal role in driving operational excellence and mentoring the next generation of drilling professionals. His leadership was marked by a hands-on approach, technical depth, and an unwavering focus on delivering results.

Known for his calm demeanour, strong work ethic, and people-centric leadership style, Shri Sharma earned the respect of colleagues across the organisation. His journey stands as a testament to the values of dedication, resilience, innovation, and continuous learning that define the ONGC spirit.

proudly celebrates the remarkable journey of Shri Sachiv Kumar, Executive Director, as he marks his superannuation after more than 37 years of dedicated service to India’s energy sector.

A Chemical Engineer by training, Shri Sachiv Kumar joined ONGC in 1989 and built an illustrious career spanning production operations, process commissioning, field development, technology initiatives, operational monitoring, and strategic leadership. His professional journey took him across Ankleshwar, Gandhar, Lakwa, Dehradun, Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Tripura, and Delhi, where he consistently delivered excellence across diverse operational and managerial roles.

Beginning his career in the Gandhar fields of Ankleshwar, he played key roles in wellhead operations, well completion activities, and the commissioning of CPF Gandhar. He later contributed significantly to gas processing operations in Assam, including the commissioning of a new compressor plant at Lakwa, before taking on critical responsibilities at ONGC headquarters, helping shape operational monitoring, planning, and production management across the Company.

Over the years, Shri Kumar emerged as a respected leader in onshore operations and technology-driven initiatives. As Head of the New Technology Initiative Group, Onshore, and later in leadership roles in Mumbai, Tripura, and Delhi, he championed operational efficiency, innovation, and performance improvement while mentoring teams and strengthening ONGC’s production ecosystem. Under his leadership, Tripura Asset achieved its highest-ever gas production and gas sales since inception, a milestone that significantly reinforced ONGC’s contribution to the energy security of Northeast India.

In the final phase of his distinguished career, he served on deputation to the Directorate General of Hydrocarbons (DGH INDIA ) as Additional Director General (Dev), bringing with him decades of operational insight and strategic experience, further contributing to the advancement of India’s upstream energy sector.

Known for his professionalism, technical acumen, and calm leadership, Shri Sachiv Kumar leaves behind a legacy of dedication, innovation, and service. His journey stands as an inspiration to generations of ONGCians committed to powering the nation’s energy future.

deeply mourns the untimely passing of legendary shooter, distinguished coach and former ONGCian Shri Jaspal Rana, Padma Shri.

A pioneer of Indian shooting, Shri Rana won gold at the 1994 Hiroshima and delivered several memorable performances at the 2006 and Doha Asian Games.

His association with ONGC during a defining phase of his career remains a proud part of the organisation’s sporting legacy. Beyond his achievements as an athlete, he made an enduring contribution as a mentor to India’s next generation of shooters.

A recipient of the Arjuna Award, Dronacharya Award and Uttarakhand Gaurav Samman, Shri Rana leaves behind a legacy of excellence, resilience and service to Indian sport.
