We felt that interesting, innovative and creative work was emerging from various spaces across the country but that there was a missing platform to bring those ideas onto a common stage. KONA hopes to create a space for dialogue and discussion among and with architects, artists and engineers, while also providing us a space to think of new ways to live (and eat) in urban India. Essentially, KONA i
s a platform for young and emerging professionals in the design, organic gourmet and art space, who are experimenting with fresh ideas and challenging our conception of materials and their
functionalities. It is a platform for the collusion of ideas and work from a range of creative fields and opens up a spacefor engagement on how we eat, think and live. KONA, in Hindi and Urdu, means corner. Out of this corner, we hope we can create a movement for design and contemporary living.Pop-ups are becoming less uncommon in India today though the idea of creating temporal spaces is not new to exhibitors everywhere. For us at KONA, the pop-up is an experiment for the larger idea of a KONA as a multi-disciplinary platform, a collaboration among artists and new thinkers. Apart from exhibiting design, the short-term pop ups showcase exhibitions, discussions, screenings, ecology- and food- related events and demonstrations.
