With the sedentary and stressful lifestyles, we have these days, diseases like pre-diabetes, PCOS, obesity are becoming very common. They are no longer restricted to age or hereditary syndromes. One principal reason is STRESS. Stress is not easily measurable, and often it's challenging to realize how harmful it is for your mental and physical health.

"Unfortunately, I learnt this the hard way, where my insulin resistance led to PCOS. But luckily, these are treatable and manageable with the right medication and a healthy lifestyle!", tells our Senior Bioinformatician, Richa Mudgal, PhD.

She adds, "Striking the right balance in life is complicated and especially in these COVID times. But let's start by taking a small step! Let's pledge to spread the word, PCOS is treatable! Visit a doctor and start by eating right and healthy and include some exercise in your everyday routine."

We are putting our collective to bring awareness to , a poorly understood metabolic syndrome that now affects 1 in 5 women.
Contemporary medicine underlies the criticality of a regular menstrual cycle as the 6th Vital sign. Here we're thinking out loud with data about a potential cause of failed me**es cycles in PCOS. If you would like to access this dataset, reach out to us with a comment.

She needed a hero, so she became one. 🦸‍♀️ Happy Women's Day to all the incredible women! Shine on, not just today but everyday!

"As a grad student studying the molecular basis of chronic pain, I spent many a day running behind uncooperative rodents of the male persuasion. But chronic pain is a universal affliction, unlinked to s*x, so I wondered why our whiskery subjects were exclusively male. Digging deeper, I realized this bias against female animal research isn't limited to neuroscience. This was a systemic issue and extended to pre-clinical and clinical studies in biomedical research."

We kick off the Women's Day celebrations with an article by our neuroscientist-turned-scientific content writer, Malavika Srikanth, where she discusses gender bias in scientific research. ⚥ https://elucidata.io/womens-week-kick-off/

Additionally, we at Elucidata aim to spread the word about Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) - one of the most common ovulatory disorders, believed to impact over 100 million women worldwide. This month, we are dedicated to raising awareness, educating the public, and conquering PCOS by sharing personal stories. Keep following this space for more such content. Let's PCOS together. 🎗

This week's dataset, MTBLS726, contains metabolomics data from the blood plasma and colon contents of TD and ASD humanized mice. Researchers studying the role of the gut-brain axis in the context of autism spectrum disorders and behavioral deficits will potentially benefit from this resource. One common problem that we hear is the long hours required to curate 1000s of peak features detected by El-MAVEN in metabolomics datasets. Besides, the available methods for peak detection in untargeted metabolomics suffer from poor precision.

Read this blog to know how Polly-PeakML can solve the challenges in untargeted metabolomics: https://elucidata.io/untargeted-metabolomics-5-problems-1-solution/

,

Have control over untargeted metabolomics. Break the bottlenecks of redundancy and inconsistency. Go from weeks to days while classifying quality peaks.

For our Dataset of the week series today, we talk about GSE152418, the dataset that contains gene expression data from the immune cells of COVID-19 patients and healthy controls and could serve as a valuable resource in understanding the key molecular players and immune mechanisms involved in modulating the host immune response. Although Mass Spectrometry is a commonly used tool by researchers worldwide, limitations in current software remain. 👨‍💻
Today's research spotlight is on the study that understands these limitations and the bifurcated perception of the state of Mass Spec software by interviewing 100 MS professionals. These interviews insinuated a notable split between user satisfaction with current software and developer perceptions of software quality. Read more at https://lnkd.in/dbwF98P

A substantial rift exists between user and developer of mass spec software.

Celebrating the International Day of Women and Girls in Science 👩‍🔬
Here at Elucidata, we understand the importance of gender equality in science and technology and laud the efforts put in by women associated with STEM subjects.

Shruti Srinivasan, our Senior Bioinformatics Scientist, says, "I am counting my blessings. So stoked to work with so many talented women in tech and tech leadership. Hope we will see many women blazing the trail in the coming years."

We take immense pride in our diverse perspectives that help us drive innovation 💪🔥. Thank you, ladies.

This week, the spotlight is on the first publicly available spatiotemporal cell atlas of the human embryonic heart. ❤️
This paper from the Lundeberg lab in Sweden, one of the pioneers of spatial transcriptomics, utilizes a three-pronged approach to understand the molecular changes associated with human cardiogenesis.

A proxy server enables a client to send requests to our internal private servers without giving out the servers' details. It also avoids exposing resources to the public internet. Read more about how we do it in our blog: https://elucidata.io/how-to-access-resources-inside-vpc-using-a-reverse-proxy/

There are two types of proxy servers: Forward Proxy or “Gateway” and Reverse Proxy. A forward proxy hides the identities of clients, whereas a reverse proxy
